Sara Fleming heard the voice in her head that night at the grocery store. She heard it get louder and louder. Then she told the cashier, “put all the groceries on my card” motioning to the man struggling to make the payment. The total was $94.10, which for Sara was a lot of money.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the money…I’ll provide. Trust Me.” – the voice said.

Everyone spends a bit more than they would like around the holidays. But during that time, giving is an important part, and sometimes money shouldn’t get in the way. Money always comes and it always goes.

Sara had the push that night to let some of her hard-earned money go. It was needed more by this single dad in a time of need. She didn’t make the decision to “pay it forward.” As people do around the holidays. It was because she heard the voice of divine intervention command her to help the man.

She was doing the work of God.

Sara Fleming wanted to share the story about how God would allow two strangers to meet at a time in need. Then bring them back together to show how the heaven’s above can work.

This all started over the holidays when Sara was at the grocery store buying some food.

“Sweet friends, this is a true story. I’m sharing for others to hear of God’s goodness and mercy. It’s not about me. Great things HE hath done!”

At 10:00 pm that night, while checking out, the clerk rang up $94.10 for a man just trying to buy the essentials. But it was too much for him to afford.

“I watched as the man in front of me asked the cashier to put things to the side. Over and over again. He kept swiping his card. Declined.”

It’s quite likely at some point in your life while trying to buy something, your card was declined. We either get another card out or determine the purchase wasn’t necessary. For this man, it was necessary, but he didn’t have any other options.

“There was a girl and boy with him, and I heard them call him ‘Dad’ several times. The girl was a pre-teen, and the boy was about my son’s age. I could see the embarrassment written all over their faces.”

The cashier started putting the food items he couldn’t pay for under the counter. Sara felt awful for the family.

“Then suddenly, I felt it. It was like a gentle shove on the back and a mild electric shock to my heart.”

“Pay for these groceries,” it said. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the money…I’ll provide. Trust Me.”

Sara heard the words loud and clear. But just as she was about to open her mouth and say something, she hesitated. Not sure if she should interject and possibly embarrass the family.

“That small voice still called again. Another shove. Stronger this time. ‘I’ve got it,’ I blurted out loudly, as heat flooded my face.”

Not believing what he’s heard, he turned around slowly. With his daughter hugging him, the man eye’s filled with tears.

“I don’t know how to thank you. I’m a single Dad. It’s so hard.”

Sara prayed that God would find a way to cover the purchase like he said he would. According to her, he did!

“It’s okay. I wanted to help. I know it’s what God told me to do. And I have been there,’ I replied quietly.”

The family took their groceries and left the store.

Months later, Sara was sitting in church with her family. She then noticed the same dad and kids sitting right next to them. The same church, the same pew, and at the same time. Seems as though God had brought them back together.

Feeling the power of God at that moment, Sara began to sob quietly.

Out of all the churches in their city, this dad was a member of hers.

“I never told him I was a Christian. I never even told him where I went to church. The same one who brought this dad and his family to my church that Sunday.”

Sara wants everyone to know that this experience taught her that “it’s not about me.” It’s all about HIM!

“Glory to the Lord God Almighty, great things HE hath done.”
