“My life has been a series of unfortunate events,” she shared.

She has been married twice but both marriages did not work.

“I have been married twice. I had been divorced twice. I have built two houses and I lost the houses basically in the carnage of my divorces.”

So aside from losing the relationships, she also lost many things including her house.

But MJ chose to move on.

She knew that she had to face the challenges of her past and chose to keep going. She reflected on her situation which led her to have realizations not only about her life but also the lives of her kids.

Michelle then realized that she didn’t have a retirement plan and even savings.

This realization urged her to build her own tiny house.

She wanted it so much so she made a way to achieve her huge plan.

“This house, basically using cash and sponsorships to make sure that I have paid-for, nice, comfortable house when I retire,” she said.

Some of her friends and contractors helped her in building her tiny home but most of the works were done by her.

It’s so nice to see every part of her house.

You would see that it’s a fruit of passion and hard work.

There’s a cozy living area.

Her favorite part of the house? The kitchen.

And I can see why. It’s filled with many kitchen stuff but it doesn’t look too occupied. Everything is organized.

“I think that people sacrifice their kitchen when they go tiny and I wanted to show everybody that you can have a really cool and stylish kitchen,” she even shared.

Michelle also mentioned a few backgrounds of her kitchen appliances.

The unique part of her house are the stairs going to the loft space.

They are a bit narrow as MJ wanted them to be “minimally invasive to the space”. But she made sure that it would look beautiful.

Her loft bedroom is apparently cozy and no wonder why Michelle spends most of her time there.

Michelle also gave a few pieces of advice on how to maximize the spaces when you have a tiny home.

She said:

“Another myth in the tiny house movement is that you have to sacrifice and downsize like a ton but the truth is you can do some really cool stuff when it comes to built-in cabinets and sort of utilize space.”

This is what she did to her bathroom that’s why she has managed to put some of her clothes including her stackable washer and dryer there.
