Single mom loving retired life in her year-round tiny home gives a full tour

Retiring could be financially scary, unless you are as wealthy as those “Shark Tank” folks, right?

When you think about retirement, you must think about how you’re going to support yourself, let alone those who financially depend on you.

Truth be told, there are thousands (if not millions) of senior citizens out there who are still working day in and out just to provide for their needs.

But there are alternatives.

Michelle ā€œMJā€ Boyle’s retirement plans are all about “tiny”.

We’re talking about shelter, of course, and Michelle is building tiny houses all by herself.

According to this single mom of two, she never really had that sense of home until she got her own kids.

Michelle’s parents got divorced when she was just four years old and that resulted in her growing up in foster care.

She was legally adopted when she was just a teen by her now estranged adopted family whom she left when she was 18.

She’s been through the wringer.

MJ shared that she’s been married twice and got divorced twice. She built two houses but lost both in the carnage of her divorce.

Despite all that had happened, she stood strong on her own and single-handedly took care of her two kids.

A single mom for nearly two decades, she never faltered and never backed down.

Michelle said she has no retirement plan or money that’s why she got involved in The Tiny House Movement.

At first, she just thought of building a tiny house that could never be taken away from her.

She just wanted a place where she can comfortably live once she retires and without worrying about the mortgage.

Basically a house she can call “home” that’s proudly hers and hers alone.

Using her own hard-earned money and some sponsorships, she managed to pull off her tiny house project.

Her tiny home is 8.5 feet wide x 24 feet long.

It’s a homey as they come.

Her favorite part is the kitchen

She claims this space is neglected by many people when choosing to build a tiny house, but not hers.

Michelle’s kitchen is packed with vintage refurbished appliances that date back to the 1940s and 50s.

It was truly a “labor of love” because it took her two years in total to collect and refurbish her collection.

The theme of her home’s design is “modern nostalgia” and it reflects everywhere inside.

The house also has a loft bed for guests that’s just right above the kitchen, a pair of space-saving chairs that are situated in front of the tv, and a toilet and bath where she also puts her clothes.

She has it all.

She also figured out an effective way to manage her waste, this woman really knew her stuff.

Apart from her own tiny home, MJ wanted to make a couple of more tiny houses and have them rented through Airbnb and other marketplaces.
