When Audrey was diagnosed with esophageal and stomach cancer, she asked her neighbor to look after her kids. It would be a huge burden on Tisha’s large family, but she agreed anyway.

It all began when Audrey asked Tisha to look after her kids for just one night. Audrey needed to go into the hospital for tests.

As a friend, Tisha agreed and wished Audrey well.

Sadly, Audrey received bad news. She had stage two esophageal and stomach cancer.

Audrey began treatments and hoped that she would recover, for her three kids’ sakes.

Unfortunately, Audrey’s cancer was very aggressive. As the months passed by, her health declined.

Luckily, Tisha was there for Audrey and her kids.

It was then that Audrey asked Tisha and her husband, Kevin, to become her kids’ legal guardians.

Tisha had five kids of her own. But she and her husband agreed to take the kids in.

Shortly after Tisha agreed to adopt the kids, Audrey passed away.

Tisha knew what the children were going through and was determined to make their lives as wholesome as possible.

She had grown up an orphan and never found adoptive parents. Instead, she went from foster home to foster home.

“They’ve been through too much. They deserve a loving family, and a place to call home.” – Tisha Beauchmin.

Obviously, raising eight children simultaneously was no easy task. But Tisha and her husband could not let the kids down.

They worked hard, but still, they struggled to pay the bills.

At first, Tisha and her husband became the kids’ foster parents.

To become the kids’ adoptive parents, they would need to adapt their home to accommodate the extra children permanently.

For a while, the kids had to share rooms and even beds.

Luckily, a local news team heard about the situation and offered to help out.

The news team hired some renovators to make the home comfortable for all of the children. Tisha was told that a wall would be added to her loft, but really so much more would happen.

Over the course of a few days, Tisha and her large family stayed in a hotel as the renovators got to work. The entire home was transformed.

The renovators painted every wall, replaced doors, landscaped the outside, replaced the carpet and replaced all of the furniture in the home. And yes, they also added the loft wall.

Then Tisha and the rest of the family returned to see what the renovators had done. They couldn’t believe it.

“I would never have thought in a million years my home could look like this.” – Tisha Beauchmin.

Best of all, almost every child had their own bed at last.

The only child who did not have their own bed was Chad, Tisha’s eldest son. But Chad was still in luck. As an adult, Chad had been looking to find an apartment of his own. The newsteam gave Chad $1,500 to help him secure a new place.

And lastly, the news team gave the large family a few more gifts.

They paid for a year’s supply of groceries for everyone in the home. And on top of that, they gave them a brand new van that was big enough to transport all of the kids at once.

Now Tisha could formally adopt Audrey’s kids.

Of course, raising eight children will still be a challenge for Tisha and her husband. And the adoptive children will have to come to terms with losing their mom. But they know that they have the support of their community.
