Sisters build a secret passageway so their cat can easily go between their rooms
Cats, and any kind of pet for that matter, deserve the absolute best. Any pet owner would agree with that. We love our furry little creatures so much, we just want to give them everything we possibly can… Even if it might seem a little bit excessive to outsiders.
This little cat, named BleuBelle, was just given what is perhaps one of the coolest, most convenient gifts ever: her very own passageway.
When the cat was first brought into the family, she spent every night sleeping next to her big dog sister, Skyler, in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, though, Skyler passed away and this made BleuBelle so sad. She started to sleep in the room her sister shared so that she wouldn’t feel so alone.
Later on, the family moved to a new house. The whole room arrangement was swapped and because of that, they worried about their poor cat and where she would sleep. They didn’t want her to feel alone and they wanted her to sleep well.
“She loved sleeping on both of our beds, so we wanted to keep things as normal as possible,” the family recently told The Dodo.
“At our old house, she’d jump from one bed to the other, down to the floor, and then proceed to do laps around our room when she wanted us to wake up, usually at 4 a.m. She has a ‘donut’ on each of our beds (a blanket rolled and then shaped into a circle, with another blanket draped over it) and loves napping in them in the morning sun.”
The sisters came up with the perfect solution.
Because the sisters’ two new bedrooms were next to each other and share a wall, they decided to do something really special for the cat. They actually went into the wall and built a small passageway so that BleuBelle could seamlessly move from room to room.
All of a sudden, it was easy. She could go back and forth whenever she pleased. The passageway took about a week to complete, with the help of their parents.
“The building part, [for] which my dad did all the cutting/measuring/building the frame that went in the hole to fill the space between the drywall, took about a weekend, and then the painting had to be done over the course of several days,” they said.
They really thought out every detail too. They painted the passageway so that it looked like a galaxy. Trippy! BleuBelle obviously approved of their artistic direction.
The family continued to share: “I think the only thing she was really nosy about was when we were painting it. Probably because we were using paper plates as our mixing station, and she LOVES paper.”
When the cat saw the final product she was confused but then she quickly learned how to use it and loved it.
“She was a little unsure to start,” they said. “Once we showed her how to use it, and she gave it a sniff test, she loved it! She uses it even when both doors are open, and uses it as an escape hatch quite frequently!”
What a lucky little kitty!
