Sixty hopeful families gather in rescue parking lot to receive their 'dream dogs'
Since 2011, Tracy and Scott Whyatt have brought 3,700 pets into their forever homes, saving the lives of these amazing dogs.
The pair had grown tired of seeing 2.7 million dogs and cats put to death in shelters each year due to overcrowding.
She felt strongly about helping dogs.
After taking a six-week leave from her job in 2011, Tracy chose to pursue her ambition of dedicating her life to protecting dogs, and she and Scott established Tracy’s Dogs.
To prevent the euthanasia of Texas-based pets, Tracy and Scott spend their days traveling to kill shelters.
What they’re doing is incredible.
The dogs are sent to Tracy’s Dogs in San Antonio, Texas, where they receive medical care and are made ready for adoption.
After that, Tracy’s Dogs fosters each doggo and finds them permanent homes. In order to use a meeting location where prospective dog owners may see their pre-adopted dog, Tracy’s Dogs will collaborate with businesses like PetSmart.
It’s actually brilliant.
In order to introduce the dogs to their new family, Scott packs them onto a 32-foot trailer every month and transports them to PetSmart parking lots in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., and even Florida.
“When people are adopting a dog from us, I really want them to understand they’re adopting that dog but they’re really saving three dogs’ loves,” the operations director, Liz Grabarits, said.
And she explained why.
There is only room for around 100 canines at a time in the San Antonio facility. 60 dogs can enter and be saved from kill shelters when 60 dogs depart. That indicates that the shelters have room for an additional 60 pups.
The Tracy’s Dogs crew has the opportunity to witness these tender moments when a dog is adopted into a home where they will receive unwavering love and care for the rest of their life.
It makes everything worth it.
For brand-new pet owners, it’s an incredibly sentimental time. This is a serious matter to Tracy’s Dogs.
Because of this, they frequently arrange a ceremony known as “Gotcha Day” when all the families who are going to acquire pups would assemble in front of the trailer while the puppies being adopted are officially announced and presented to their new owners.
It’s so charming and everyone applauds.
Before discovering Tracy’s Dogs, Megan Peters and Brian Roseto had been unsuccessfully looking for a pet online.
“We found Benny, soon-to-be Finn’s photo, and fell in love with him immediately,” Peters recalled.
They made sure to get him.
And that is just what occurred when Megan and Brian first met the puppy they would later call Finn in the parking lots of PetSmart. In fact, Peters was “trying not to cry” out of excitement.
On that day, more than 60 happy families were made complete by adopting these dogs needing and perpetually looking for their forever homes. Indeed, an event like this is probably one of the happiest and most emotional of all.
