Rescued sloth becomes best buddies with adorable beagle

When two different species of animals meet, it’s highly expected that they will clash. This story, although it also features two animals from two different kingdoms, isn’t like that.

Instead of throwing claws and bites, they found the best of friends in each other’s arms. It’s not the usual friendship that you will see on the internet but it will surely make you smile.

This beautiful story of friendship happened two years ago in Venezuela when Juan Carlos and Haydee rescued a sloth named Chuwie.

The poor creature got itself electrocuted on a power line and the couple was afraid about him not surviving the tragic incident.

Juan and Haydee wasted no second and immediately rushed Chuwie to the nearest animal clinic. Luckily, there was an available veterinarian and they were given the assurance that the injured sloth will survive.

When they reached the animal hospital, Chuwie was literally in “shock.” Juan Carlos shared the story with The Dodo and said (translated), “He was absolutely terrified and had no idea what was going on.”

The unfortunate accident did a lot of damage to Chuwie.

He was injured all over. It completely burned all his claws on his hind legs and left hand. Complete healing needed quite some time because the injuries were terribly bad.

The couple didn’t stop helping Chuwie. They were there all throughout the healing process. They even gave the injured sloth a personal space and built him a makeshift house made from bamboo.

To help him with his wounds, they made sure to regularly clean them. They made every way possible to help the poor creature be back on its feet.

Little by little, the then aloof wild animal started to let the couple get close to him, including another one who was really itching to be friends with him.

Seven, the gentle dog.

Seven is a beagle and the lovely pooch of Juan and Haydee. She too was very also eager to get close to the rescued sloth.

Despite the playful nature of dogs, Seven maintained a well-behaved demeanor beside Chuwie. She knew that she might scare him at any moment and that wouldn’t help the sloth recover fast.

The curious dog always tailed the slow-moving animal. Wherever the sloth goes, the dog follows. It’s like she wanted to be Chuwie’s bodyguard.

Seven kept a safe distance from Chuwie while healing. Eventually, the two started to hang out together.

Funny because Seven even tried eating leaves.

She really tried hard to be close to Chuwie. She tried being a herbivore like a sloth. That’s how she badly wanted to be liked by Chuwie.

Seven also tried showing her toys and how to play with them. She did everything to get the sloth’s attention, earn his trust, and be friends with him.

Her stubbornness and persistence finally paid off when the rescued sloth eventually let her be very close to him.

The two soon became not just friends but the best of friends! They started doing almost everything together, they were inseparable.

They started playing together, hugging, cuddling, and sleeping beside each other. They began creating beautiful memories.

Juan and Haydee eventually made Chuwie the ambassador of their project called ‘Chuwie Sloth Rescue Center.’ If you want to support them, feel free to drop by the site and join them in their advocacy.

This is indeed a wonderful story of animals embracing their differences from one another. Chuwie and Seven are living proofs that differences don’t matter in true friendship.
