It’s so easy to make, too.

You can make a lot in advance so it’s always ready when you need it. And when you’ve got guests over for a surprise visit, it’s going to be so easy to feed them. And they’ll definitely appreciate having something so cool and refreshing to enjoy during the heat of the summer.

What do you think?

The best part about slush pops is you can use any fruit, juice, and alcohol you already have in the house. And in case, you’re missing an ingredient, it’s so easy to either grab it at any store or substitute with another ingredient.

There are three fruit bases you can use for your slush.

1. Fresh or frozen fruit

You can use apples, strawberry, mango, blueberries, raspberries, watermelon, pineapple, orange, peaches, or lemon. You can either cut them up blend half of it and chop the other half into small pieces. The small pieces can add crunch to your slushie.

Be sure to add sugar when you blend it. The sugar will prevent the slushie from completely freezing into a hard popsicle. When you take it out of the freezer, the slushie will be soft enough to protect your teeth when you bite into it.

2. Fruit juice

If you don’t have fresh fruits, you can also use the same fruits mentioned above but in juice form. This is great because it has already been mixed with sugar. Or if you’re particular about your sugar, you can use unsweetened fruit juice and add the sugar of your choice.

Feel free to mix different flavors, like pineapple with mango, strawberry, raspberry, or orange. Orange pairs well with cranberry, lemon, grapefruit or pomegranate.

3. A mix of both

The third base is a mix of both. Instead of blending the fruits with sugar and water, blend it with the fruit juice. Be sure to just add enough juice to get the blender going and to keep it slushy.

As for the alcohol base, you can use different ones, depending on the fruit you’re using.

For grapefruit, you can use rum, gin, vodka, or white wine. Lemon goes well with rum, vodka, or Moscato. And pineapple goes well with brandy, orange liqueurs or rum.

Try different flavors and combinations, just make sure to label the containers so you know which flavor you’re getting.

Make sure to freeze the slush pops for at least four hours.

And if you’re in a bind and don’t have the time to wait for the slush pops to freeze, you can go the easier route. Buy different flavors of slush pops and a bottle of vodka or rum at the grocery.

Before taking it out of its packaging, chop it in small bite-sized pieces. Pile the different flavors in a glass and add vodka or rum. The amount of alcohol in each glass is up to you.
