This shelter pup throws a huge smile at everyone who passes by

Meet Burreaux, an absolutely adorable black labrador who is currently residing in an animal shelter in Louisiana. Burreaux was rescued by Sarah Walton, who works as a volunteer at the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana shelter. He was just eight weeks old at the time when Sarah brought him in from animal control, along with his siblings Joe and O.

Since Sarah is a huge football fan, all of the pups were actually named after members of the Louisiana State University team.

Burreaux, Joe, and O were actually scheduled to be put to sleep, but the Humane Society couldn’t let that happen. They believe that every animal is worth rescuing, so Sarah and other staff members at the shelter dedicated themselves to finding a loving forever home for these three cute four-footers.

They were confident that they could find a family for all three pups, but there was one of the bunch that really stood out: Burreaux.

Every single time that someone passed by or talk to him, he would show his big smile.

The grin with his teeth out is just simply adorable and it didn’t take long before Burreaux won over the hearts of everyone with his infectious smile.

“It’s whenever you’re talking real sweet to him … he gets this smile like he wants something, like he’s telling you, ‘Come pet me, come love me’,” Sarah said to The Dodo.

The shelter staff was somewhat surprised that one of his siblings was actually adopted first.

Joe quickly found a forever home, and the staff thinks it could be because he’s excellent at playing fetch and this particular family wanted an active dog to play around with often.

“The entire litter was friendly and sweet and they like to play,” Sarah told. “Burreaux and his sister are starting to learn fetch, too.”

Burreaux wasn’t great at fetch, although he was learning. Nonetheless, the shelter staff wanted to find something that would make Burreaux more attractive to potential adopters and the online public.

That’s when they remembered that Burreaux had an absolutely amazing and unique smile.

The shelter posted a video of Burreaux’s incredible smile and grin on their Facebook page, and it didn’t take long before it was seen by thousands of people.

“We were thinking, ‘Burreaux wants a home so bad that he’s always smiling, trying to cute it up,’” Sarah said. “So we took that video and now it’s going viral.”

They figured that his smile was a ‘unique selling point’, so to speak, and would definitely grab the attention of families and potential adopters.

Strangely enough, things weren’t really going that smoothly for Burreaux’s adoption plans, even though the video managed to get hundreds of thousands of views in a matter of days.

There wasn’t a single doubt that plenty of people around the world fell in love with Burreaux, yet he was still looking for his forever home.

Luckily, the Humane Society posted a new update regarding Burreaux on their social media pages a couple of weeks later.

The update simply read: “adoption pending”.

We can only imagine how big the pup’s smile must’ve been when he heard that he was going to a new forever home and loving family! Burreaux’s smile is an absolute treasure and he will now finally get the attention, love, and warmth he deserves.
