Soldier reunites with his four-legged partner after two years of separation
The mighty soldiers who serve in the military have been long fighting for the country’s liberty. They unhesitatingly put everything on the line including their own lives just to protect their countrymen’s freedom.
But they are not alone on that battlefield, they are accompanied by their loyal four-legged partners.
Most of us know them by their names K-9, war dogs, and dogs in warfare.
These fierce dogs used by the military force do not actually fight on the battlefield, they have a much more important role during and before combat. With their impeccable sense of smell, they can detect danger coming from afar like land mines and other explosive devices.
Simply put, military dogs save our mighty soldiers’ lives by keeping them away from possible danger.
But once they’re done with their job in the warzone, these dogs retire too and are often put up for adoption. Usually, it’s prioritized to have them adopted or let’s say, reunited with the soldiers they worked with. However, it doesn’t always end up that way because of some inevitable circumstances like the financial capacity of the soldier to adopt them.
Thankfully, guardian angels are everywhere.
The world is indeed blessed with Good Samaritans who have nothing but kindness in their hearts. One of them is Molli Oliver, a California-based flight attendant who’s been working at United Airlines for over 4 decades.
But she’s not just an ordinary flight attendant because she’s more than that, she also helps reunite military war dogs with the soldiers who tagged along with them during their service. Although traveling costs quite a fortune, Molli still managed to continue this passion of hers using her own hard-earned money.
“I love the dogs, and I love my military that’s taking care of my freedom my whole life. So it’s a win-win to combine the two.”
She’s already reunited three military dogs with their beloved soldiers and she’s doing it again for the fourth time.
A yellow labrador named Taylor was deployed in Afghanistan twice, and there, she’s known by many as “Tay-Tay” or “Princess Taylor.” She served as a bomb-sniffing dog and saved a lot of soldiers from grave danger.
She was so good that the Taliban forces even put a bounty on her head.
After hearing Taylor’s story, Molli knew she had to do the right thing by reuniting her with Sergeant Tom Hanson, the military dog’s previous handler. She wasted no time and immediately booked a first-class trip to Boise to make the reunion happen.
Nervous but excited.
That’s what Sergeant Hanson felt during what seemed like the longest waiting game of his life.
“It’s like a part of me has been missing and you know, getting her back now it’ll make me whole again,” he told NBC News.
After their safe trip, Molly and Taylor went straight ahead to meet the ecstatic soldier and after two long years of separation, they’re back in each others’ arms once again. The two shared a warm hug after not seeing each other for a long time with Taylor’s tail wagging non-stop like a twister.
Sergeant Hanson couldn’t be more thankful for what Molli did. Hopefully, more and more capable people will step up and follow through in her steps in making the world a better place for both dogs and humans.
