Soldiers erupt into “Take Me Home, Country Roads” during beautiful moment on the way home
Their way back home
Men and women of the armed forces endure a special kind of commitment. They put their entire lives on the line to let us enjoy our civil liberties and guarantee our protection. Quite literally, their work is excruciating. These men and women go through really intense boot camps and then have to stay mentally sharp to execute fight-flight responses. They deserve all the praise and recognition they can get, and then some.
Coming home is the sweetest gift that they always look forward to. The West Virginia National Guard are on their way home after being deployed for 11 long months. They shared a very special moment together, something they will not forget for quite some time.
On a flight going back home, the troopers are seen sitting down next to one another. Finally, they were coming home to the people who mean most to their lives. They were all very thrilled.
It’s a chance to get back in touch with family and friends, as well as well deserved break to experience the world outside the battlefield. They were going home, they all have a sigh of relief. At that moment, things began to get interesting. They began to sing to John Denver’s, “Take Me Home, Country Roads”.
The immense sigh of relief of knowing you’ll be returning to your roots truly makes the moment seem surreal for these brave troopers. Such emotion can only be bottled until it inevitably opens up. And that’s when things got interesting: The group began singing to John Denver’s, “Take Me Home, Country Roads”. Better make sure you grab a tissue for what’s to come next!
A bonding moment.
The troopers shared a heartwarming moment on their return flight to West Virginia. Chandler Mcdaniel posted the video on social media. He served in several different areas across the Middle East including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and even Afghanistan.
For these troopers, this was the light at the end of the tunnel. They all shared the big satisfaction of knowing all the hard work is finally paying off. They all boarded the flight as strangers, but sharing this moment together has cast a beautiful bond between all of them.
We can see the troopers swaying their heads to the tune of the song. Spending almost a year away from home can really take a toll on our bodies and our minds. It was delightful to see these troopers loosen up a bit while singing. Their voices filled the plane as they sang, they were not afraid to let their spirits fly high. The guitar playing really adds to the heartfelt emotions of these men and women. It was perfect. We can really feel their gladness of finally being able to wake up without any threat of danger constantly looming over their heads for some time.
We salute you!
On most days, it is easy to take their sacrifices for granted. We get so busy with our own daily lives that we forget to look at the sidelines to see who is helping us along the way. The incredible journey these heroes have endured so we can enjoy our peace of mind has to be celebrated. Every country road, whether or not it’s our way home will sing their praise. We salute all the strong men and women of our armed forces!
