Son surprises biological mom with touching reunion 35 years after being put up for adoption

Getting pregnant is typically a happy experience. It’s an important milestone that couples celebrate.

Stacey Faix had a different reaction when she found out that she was pregnant.

Being 15 years old, she felt she wasn’t ready to take care of another human being at that time. She was still a teenager back then. The idea of raising a child seemed terrifying.

She carried her pregnancy to term but had to immediately put his son up for adoption.

Stacey didn’t even get to hold her child. The baby was taken to another room as soon as he was delivered.

The child went on to live a very happy life.

His adoptive family took great care of him. They named him Stephen and he had a wonderful childhood. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Eventually, he was told that he was adopted.

Stephen didn’t feel bad about it. He went on to live his life. He enlisted in the military, got deployed, and returned to the country.

Despite all he’s done, Stephen still couldn’t stop thinking about his biological mom.

He kept wondering about her since his birth records got lost in a flood. At first, he thought there was no way for him to see his true mom.

Fortunately, a state law was changed.

It stated that children who got adopted in Pennsylvania can ask for their adoption records. And that’s exactly what the man did.

It didn’t take a long time for Stephen to find out the name of his real mom.

He logged into Facebook, typed in her name, and searched for her based on location and age. Eventually, he was able to narrow down his search to one woman.

He sent a simple message to Stacey. He asked the woman if she had put up a baby boy for adoption. His question got a swift response. Stacey replied “yes”.

Since then, the two bonded through Facebook.

And there, they discovered that even though they’re living separate lives, they still have a lot of things in common. They both served in the military. Plus, they both plan on running a marathon.

Stephen knew he had to meet his mom.

He planned their meeting. He contacted a local Veteran’s group and asked for their help in organizing a surprise reunion. They planned it to happen on the day of the marathon.

Before the event began, Stacey received a mysterious handwritten letter.

In the letter, Stephen said that it had been 13,075 days since they’ve last been together.

While Stacey read the card, her son approached him.

She had no idea that his son would appear behind him. She was so focused on reading the letter that she didn’t even realize that Stephen was behind her already.

When Stacey turned around, she saw her son for the very first time.

Right then and there, they hugged each other. It was a very long and emotional embrace. Even the people watching them ended up crying as they witness the touching reunion.

They crossed the finish line together.

After the race, Stacey and Stephen got to catch up with each other. Together with their families, they headed off for a cookout and learned more about each other.
