Southern rock band plays an epic original song with over 21 million views
Music has the power to connect us all in ways we may not understand. People pour hundreds maybe thousands of dollars a year to watch live performances and once you experience them for yourself you understand why. As rhythm has been proven to decrease stress, anxiety, depression, and several other conditions, you could say music is therapy.
During this dark time in our world, music is a great way to let loose and enjoy every moment.
Maybe even discovering a new sound you’ve never thought to listen to. Well, we’ve got a band for you! Atlanta Georgia rock band Blackberry Smoke shared an original new song with Southern Ground Studios back in 2013. This “oldie but goodie” still resonates with us all today and is sure to make your ears happy.
Blackberry Smoke is a band of five groovy dudes who look as if we took a time machine into the 1970s, and their sound mirrors that style similarly.
The band debuted in 2000 and their raw eclectic sound has made ripples in the country music world. While their albums reach the top of Billboard charts they also open up for artists like Zac Brown Band, ZZ Top, Eric Church, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They’ve certainly made a name for themselves as they continue to create new sounds.
When the band went on Southern Ground Studios to play a few tunes Blackberry Smoke had a little surprise in store for them.
They were going to play their newest original song from their new album. The song is called Ain’t Much Left Of Me a song lead vocalist/guitarist Charlie Starr describes as,
“It’s a nobody knows you when you’re down and out, kind of song”
These 5 fellas certainly have brotherhood chemistry that make even a touching song like this an uplifting performance.
As they joke around right before playing the new single. Although their song describes a man’s lowest point in life, they bring a positive tone to ensure you can always get back up.
“I’ve been knocked down, drug out and left for dead
Barely held together by a few old threads
And I’m still here there ain’t much left to see, no
Well I’m still holding on and there ain’t much left of me”
It’s a song that reminds us to stand tall even during the lowest of times.
Blackberry Smoke’s folk, blues, rock, and country sound has a wide range of ability. You can tell they don’t want to fit into just one singular box, they want their music to expand and grow with them along the ride.
That sort of originality can certainly inspire young artists to never conform to a specific genre.
While performing their single Ain’t Much Left Of Me they take you on a storytelling journey which folk music tends to do. There’s a beauty in how a song is sung in such an illustrated way that brings audiences on a journey through their music.
Blackberry Smoke definitely creates a remarkable story within their songs.
