This Spotted Dachsund puppy is going viral for his rare markings

Most of us are all on home quarantine due to the coronavirus outbreak. It’s one effective way of slowing down the further spread of the deadly virus.

Since we are spending almost the entire day at home, we also tend to spend more time on social media.

Hello doggos👋🏼 Happy MOOnday!🐮🐾 #moomonday

A post shared by ᗰOO🖤 (@moo_in_miami) on

His name is Moo! A 1-year-old (1 year and 1 month to be exact) dachshund puppy!

What makes him stand out among the other cute pups out there? It’s his speckled body, giving him and us the optical illusion that he’s half-Dalmatian… maybe?

This head-turner pup has the usual dark-colored head like other dachshunds. But, his body’s markings are quite unique because its dominant color is white with countless small dark spots all over.

Though that’s the case, Moo’s unique looks will still amaze you and his tantalizing eyes will make your heart melt in an instant.

Hi frennsss!🐾🐶

Is it an abnormality?

Moo is a piebald or pied animal. These animals are known to have a pattern of unpigmented spots (white) on a pigmented background of hair, feathers, or scales. Thus a piebald black and white dog is a black dog with white spots, just like Moo.

Does he really deserve a spot on the internet?

A website wrote:

“Piebald coloring occurs as a result of a combination of genetic factors, including a DNA variant in the micropthalmia associated transcription factor (MITF) gene. The effects of this variant differ between dog breeds, and the result depends upon how many copies of this genetic variant a dog has in his DNA.”

It’s a YES! Check out his Instagram account!

His 24-year-old owner, Victoria Hoffman, who lives in Miami, Florida has decided to create Moo’s account– and she named it ‘moo_in_miami’.

As of this writing, the cute pooch’s account has already amassed a whopping 52.3 thousand followers!

Not bad for a pup, right?

Victoria regularly shares photos and videos of Moo’s daily activities. It’s an everyday dose of happiness for his followers and also to those who are just visiting his account.

According to Victoria, because of Moo’s unique looks, he gets a lot of attention whenever he’s out in public. He also gets picture requests from people from here and there.

However, for his owner, there’s more to Moo than just what meets the eye.

A lot of people may not know it yet, but Moo’s attitude and personality are as equally attractive as his rare physical look.

Victoria shared that Moo loves to store his toys in the same spot, gobbling on his favorite treats which are almonds and watermelons, and sleeping under the bed while on his back.

There are no dull or lonely moments with Moo. With him being around, everything seems to be more lively. He transmits his positive energy to the people around him.

Laughter is the best medicine, therefore, Moo is the best medicine.

Luckily, Victoria and her boyfriend got Moo before the coronavirus outbreak.

They already knew that they’d be spending more time at home, and having Moo as a new member of the family is just the right dose of medicine amid the quarantine period.

The coronavirus made life difficult in more ways than one, and having an animal companion at home definitely lifts the spirits high.

Dogs at foster homes are just a drive away and it wouldn’t hurt to consider taking one home.

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
