Jill was minding her own business, just being a squirrel, in August 2021 when Hurricane Isaac hit.

It sent the squirrel scrambling for her life after she fell out of her nest.

But thankfully there was a Good Samaritan who found the scared squirrel and brought her to safety.

Jill’s caretaker meant only to rehabilitate the squirrel before letting her back into the wild once the typhoon conditions calmed down.

But Jill was so adorable and got along so well indoors.

So, her caretaker decided to keep her and become her official forever mom.

Now Jill lives the good life indoors where she is safe from harsh weather.

Since then, Jill has become an internet superstar.

The 10-year-old squirrel has more than 694,000 fans on her Instagram page she says she describes herself as a “vegetarian, parkour expert whose only fear is the vacuum.”

She also “loves every Starbucks napkin she meets.” Jill is even potty-trained.

She’s quite the fashionista and loves to pose in different outfits for The Gram.

Jill’s mom loves her so much that she gets a birthday party thrown for her every year.

She even gets to go on vacation to the beach.

She doesn’t mind the long drives at all.

“Jill has come with me on vacation ever since I began caring for her — before she was even a year old. She is a pro at long drives,” her owner said.

As if all that wasn’t adorable enough, the most adorable thing about Jill is her teeny tiny little teddy bear.

Every night before Jill goes to bed, she needs her teddy by her side.

Jill cannot sleep without her bear. And seeing her little arms wrapped around her teddy is truly the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.

She loves to take naps with her teddy. Napping is actually her favorite thing to do when she isn’t being an influencer on social media.

Squirrels don’t typically make good house pets.

They aren’t domesticated animals and many states won’t even allow you to own a squirrel as a pet, according to WebMD. If you do find a squirrel in need of help, it’s best to reach out to a wildlife center to see if they can care for the squirrel before you attempt to keep it as a pet.

But once you domesticate a squirrel, you have to take care of it for life. A squirrel will lose its natural instincts once it is domesticated.

Be prepared to have a tiny creature running, and jumping, and climbing, and hiding all over your home.

You can create a cozy little cage for your squirrel to stay in that’s big enough for him to play in but will keep him safe if you want to keep it outdoors or safe at indoors at night.

You’ll want to make sure your countertops are cleared so that squirrels can’t knock anything important over.

You’ll also want to cover small holes and put appliances away to that you’re tiny tree buddy can’t knock them over.

But the joy of having such a unique creature in your home far outweighs a pet squirrel’s highly energetic nature. Jill is surely proof of that.
