This high school step team wanted to put on the half time show to end all half time shows. They really delivered.
The kids who made up The Woodlands High School Step Team came up with a routine that was sure to wow everyone.
When a big football match with another school came around, the team members knew that they were ready to show off their routine to all.
So when half time came, they all filed out and got into position.
Their opening movements on the field hinted at what was to come. They all walked forward in rows with their arms stretched out together, one row after another. Each row after the second row had fewer and fewer team members, giving the impression of an arrow.
Then the team members all got down onto the floor. They spread their arms wide. This had the effect of looking like an interlaced piece of material zoomed up close.
When the music started playing, they all sat up in a wave. Then a diagonal arrow of two rows of the dancers sat up in sync with the brass band’s notes. These dancers sat back down, and then the rest of the dancers inside sat up and down.
Next, the inner-arrow-group of the dancers stood up, while the diagonal-outer-row-arrow-group all stuck their legs out.
Then these two groups moved their arms to the music up and down in sequence.
The dancers on the outer group all stood up and everyone in the team stepped into straight lines.
They all stretched out their arms to one another again and moved their legs to the music.
After that, the dancers all stepped apart from one another. A cluster of dancers in the middle started moving to the routine while the girls on the edge stayed still.
Then the girls in the center stayed still as the dancers on the edges moved.
Next, in rows, they linked arms onto shoulders and did the can-can. Then, one row after another, they all knelt down once more.
The girls all formed one big line on the field. They turned around as if the movement was a ripple from the center.
Then they formed two rows, linked arms again and did more legwork to the music.
After that, one row of the girls laid down on the floor while the other row stood behind them. Then the dancers on top leaned forward, supported by the dancers on the ground. The dancers on top lifted their legs into the air.
Lastly, the girls all formed a curve. Half knelt and the other half stood. Then they raised their arms to the crowd.
The audience cheered. What a great half time show!
Luckily, someone was filming the performance. They uploaded it to YouTube, where it made quite an impact.
To date, the dance has had over 860,000 views. It also has more than 4,000 likes and some supportive comments. People have been saying things like this:
It’s great to see the dancers get the appreciation they deserve!
