It may sound like a small deal for you, but for Gordon Blake, riding his lawnmower showed that he still had freedom. When that lawnmower got stolen, he was desperate to get it back.

Most people consider mowing the lawn to be a chore. But 85-year-old Gordon Blake loved it.

Because of his age, he could no longer drive.

When coronavirus came to America, mowing the lawn gave Gordon so much happiness.

Most people can relate to this. After all, coronavirus was and is stressful. Many families have driven around their communities just to feel a sense of freedom. Gordon couldn’t do this. But he could ride his lawn mower.

But then Gordon had to go and live with his family. His son worried about his health.

So he and his family all self quarantined so that Gordon could come live with them.

In summer 2020, Gordon decided to return back to his home. But when he came back, he was devastated to see that someone had taken his lawnmower.

“That was something that was precious to him. Everything that he has has value to him.” – Candace Blakeslee, daughter-in-law.

Gordon spoke to his family about what had happened.

This gave him a massive burst of energy. He realized that there were things that he could do to try and get his lawnmower back.

He wrote a sign on cardboard that said, “BRING BACK MY MOWER I AM 85 YEARS OLD! I CAN’T PUSH!

Then Gordon’s family came to visit. They were shocked when they saw the sign. They realized just how much Gordon wanted the mower back.

Because of coronavirus, the family wasn’t in a place where they could afford to just get him a new lawnmower.

But they could raise awareness about what had happened. So they posted about Gordon’s lawnmower to their social media channels. Soon, the local news got interested and shot a report.

Many people who saw that report were touched. But one person decided to do something to help out.

The next day, Gordon woke up to find a delivery on lawn.

A brand new mower was waiting for him.

Gordon was overjoyed. He soon took the new mower for a spin. It handled much better than his last model.

“It’s got some new upgrades to it, that’s a lot better than my old one.” – Gordon Blake.

Gordon asked who was behind the gift. But that person wanted to remain anonymous.

Naturally, this kind gesture has given Gordon a whole new perspective on the situation.

When he saw that his first mower had been stolen, he thought that the world was a terrible place. But now he knows that there are still plenty of good people out there, who will help out an old stranger in need.

Gordon also adopted some stronger security measures for the new mower.

He will always lock it away from now on. He has also installed some security cameras around his home.

Hopefully, Gordon still has plenty of years of lawn mowing ahead of him!
