Birthdays are special. This is why parents go the extra mile to make sure that their kids are the happiest on their precious day. They throw big parties and give them great gifts.

Holly Grimet knows that birthdays aren’t complete without a cake.

With that in mind, the mom ordered one from the store and gave a very particular instruction. She said she’ll go to the store to physically pay for it.

However, she didn’t expect what happened when she came to pick up the cake.

Someone had already paid for it. This left the mom quite confused. She wondered who would do such a thing.

In the interview, she shared:

“She goes, ‘Erm, somebody actually came in and paid for it already.’ And I said, ‘Wait, somebody that I know, or was it like their grandma or something?'”

To her surprise, it was someone unrelated to the family.

The employee handed over a note that explained everything. Once Holly started reading it, she was in disbelief. She just couldn’t believe that someone was kind enough to pay for a stranger’s cake.

The note didn’t say who the kind person was.

However, it did tell her a piece of the story. The cake was all about that person’s son.

He would have been 8 years old that day.

And the person who paid for the cake wanted to remember him by doing good for others. It’s a special day and he wants another person’s kid to feel that.

Naturally, Holly felt the need to connect with the person.

Unfortunately, the note included no personal details. Even the employee didn’t even know who it was. It’s the first time they saw the beautiful woman in their store.

Holly went home to her family.

And as the note said, she threw a big party for her precious daughter. She made sure that her little girl had an awesome 8th birthday with family and friends.

She said:

“I don’t think of losing either one of my babies ever. I can’t imagine life without them. And I can’t imagine how that mother must feel.”

She wanted to repay the person’s kindness.

However, since she doesn’t know her name or address, the only thing she could do to repay her kindness was to do a similar thing. The next day, she went back to the store and purchased a birthday cake for someone else.

An act of kindness goes a long way

With so many things happening these days, people need to do more acts of kindness. It doesn’t have to be grand or expensive. You can make a huge difference in someone’s life in a simple way.

The woman who left the note didn’t just give a stranger’s child a cake for her birthday. She was able to change the family’s perspective in life. Hopefully, it does the same thing to everyone who has seen the interview. Life is short. We need to celebrate it as much as possible.
