Video shows 6-year-old girl being abandoned on street by parents before meeting a kind stranger

Children don’t behave well at times. They may throw tantrums, show bad behaviors or cry for hours. However, despite how unruly then can be sometimes, it’s not enough reason for parents to just throw them away.

A 6-year-old girl has been abandoned on a busy New York street.

She was wearing a cloth mask and carrying a trash bag containing some of her things. Mishka Peart, a local woman, was on the road and waiting for a light to change when she saw her. She pulled over and asked her where she was going and her parents’ location.

Mishka was mortified when she heard Emma’s response.

“I don’t know. They drove off and left,”- the little girl answered.

At that point, Mishka knew she had to do something.

She picked up Emma and drove her to a park nearby. There, she was able to find school safety agents who summoned officers from the nearby precinct.

Fortunately, the cops were able to locate Emma’s parents a few hours later.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Emma’s mother Patrice Chambers, tried to drop the little girl off at her father’s home but he turned her away. However, the father said that Patrice never drove by. He even had a doorbell video to prove it.

When Patrice was shown a video of the little girl being dropped off on the street, she didn’t deny it or made up excuses. She explained that she was frustrated with Emma. She was crying too much and Patrice and her partner couldn’t take it anymore.

With that, she and her boyfriend Mark Pamphile forced the little girl out of their white Nissan Altima and left her on the street.

A Queens District Attorney concerned in the case shared:

“This mother is alleged to have abandoned her terrified youngster on a street corner with her clothes in a plastic bag and no regard for the child’s safety or well-being. The defendant’s boyfriend allegedly participated in the crime and had complained about her crying like a little (expletive).”

The coupled were arrested and arraigned.

They were charged with reckless endangerment, abandonment of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. They may face up to 4 years in prison if convicted.

Emma, meanwhile, was handed over to child welfare services.

After staying there, she will be placed with a relative. Mark’s mom also showed a willingness to look after the child if none of her relatives agree to take her. She has adopted 6 kids and fostered several more over the years.

She said:

“I want to help her if I can. This is a safe house. Many pass through here and donโ€™t want to leave.โ€

She also shared a bit about her son’s history.

According to her, Mark was hit by multiple cars a couple of years ago in a car crash caused by a drunken driver. After that, he has never been the same. At times, he’s good and sometimes, he’s not. That’s probably the reason why he’s acting like he’s going crazy.

It was a good thing a good samaritan came to Emma’s rescue.

Being in the middle of a busy street is dangerous for a child, particularly if she doesn’t have any adult around to guide and protect her. Thankfully, Mishka was in the right place and the right time.
