Animals can survive the toughest of things. It’s amazing what so many of them go through but still find a way to come out on top.

Unfortunately, many animals find themselves in inhumane situations. Some have homes but are treated poorly while others wander in the street. There isn’t much protection, if any, for these poor animals.

But just as there is bad in this world, there is also plenty of good.

One cat, named Lady in a Fur Coat, found herself on the unfortunate side of things when she had to have both of her ear flaps removed due to severe chronic infections and hematomas.

Of course, the last thing anyone wants to do is remove an animal’s ears but Lady didn’t have much of a choice. However, there is a bit of good news. According to the staff at the Dane County Humane Society in Madison, Wisconsin, Lady is likely able to hear better than before.

There was one worker at DCHS who wanted to make sure that Lady didn’t feel too different than other cats. Ash Collins decided to crochet Lady replacement ears.

What a nice gesture!

The staff posted a photo on Facebook of Lady with and without her ear flaps to potential adopters. She received a lot of interest! The post has over 1,600 reactions and has been shared over 400 times!

As luck would have it, Lady was adopted the very next day! It looks like Collins’ kind-hearted gesture played a role in that.

Users were quick to leave comments of support for Lady to show that she wasn’t alone. There were also many people wanting to see whether she had been adopted. Lady turned out to be quite a popular cat.

“Greetings from Michigan. My Mighty Mouse also had severe ear infections and hematomas. He had to have his right ear removed.”

Lady has received so much support!

The staff at DCHS also informed the public that despite her ear flaps being removed, she’s still quite the cat.

“Lady is still a very happy cat and never restrains from giving happy head bumps to everyone she meets.”

Though they weren’t able to say how Lady would be around other animals because she was a stray and hadn’t interacted with them, it didn’t stop Lady from quickly getting swooped up.

We’re so happy to see that Lady has found her forever home! Many thanks to those who reached out to support Lady and a special thank you to Ash Collins, who just might have helped Lady to regain her confidence!
