Cat sneaks through zoo enclosure to make best friends with lynx
Zoos are places where animals and humans come together- even having a glass or fences between them, they still share unique and funny moments. Like the man we saw recently trading with an orangutan!
However, it is not only humans that interact with wild animals in the zoo.
It is sometimes other animals that are curious to find out what life in the zoo is like, and who take the risk to find out first-hand.
One of those risk-takers is a calico cat that decided to sneak into the enclosure of a lynx in the St. Petersburg Zoo.
Too far-fetched? Maybe. Reckless on the part of the cat? Sure! But, things didn’t go as bad as one would expect.
People believe that the stray cat approached the lynx’s enclosure only because it was hungry and desperately needed some food.
When she got in the enclosure, though, she realized there was another reason for her to stay: she probably saw her mom in the eyes of the wild cat.
Don’t forget that the calico was only a kitten when it first arrived at the zoo, so this explanation kind of makes sense.
So, what was the lynx’s reaction to the cat’s audacity?
One would expect that the wild animal would get angry with the invader and that their interaction would not end well for the little kitten. But the two proved everyone wrong.
In fact, not only did the lynx not mind the little calico sharing her food, but she was immediately protective of her, too.
The kitten soon curled up on the wild animal, trying to find some comfort and feel safe, while the lynx started cleaning her and grooming her as her mom would instinctively do.
The zoo staff soon found out that there was an invader around, but they decided to let the cat stay after seeing how unique a bond she had developed with the wild animal.
The time passed and the kitten grew into a proper cat, but this didn’t change a thing in the relationship between the two best friends.
They still care for each other, groom each other, and as you can see in the video below, share unique moments together.
However, this is not the first time that we have seen animals in zoos developing unusual friendships.
For instance, in 2015 a video of a white lion becoming friends with a dog in the Tbilisi Zoo went viral, while in 2017 a video on YouTube of the most unlikely animal friendships got more than 10M views.
That one included an orangutan and a dog, a gorilla and a tiger, and a leopard with a dog.
In the video that follows, you can see a clip of the cat and the lynx in their enclosure showing their affection to each other. It’s clear that the two of them were meant to be the best of friends, and we can’t ask for anything more adorable than that.
The video has been viewed more than 12M times and has been upvoted over 15K times.
