Stray dog adopted by gas station becomes their hero during dangerous robbery caught on camera

Not all heroes wear capes
Weâve all heard that saying. Normally it refers to the everyday heroes who arenât celebrated like Superman or Captain America. These everyday heroes help old ladies empty their shopping cart or call 911 for a medical emergency. But what if I told you that a hero could be a dog?
Randy was a stray in the city of Tamaulipas, Mexico and was taken in by some employees of a gas station.

Randy was timid at first but he eventually started to open up.
It took some perseverance and some patience, but the staff was finally able to gain the dogâs trust. Randy ended up becoming a member of the family and worked as the gas stationâs pet.
âWe fed him, bathed him and got him vaccinated,â Gerardo Aguilar, the gas stationâs owner, told The Dodo. âWe adopted him. Now he lives here, and is cared for by all the workers.â
At the time, they had no idea that this dog would become a local celebrity. Randy would end up thanking these employees in a spectacular way.
Two armed robbers showed up one evening demanding money.
The robbers rushed the gas station and demanded that he surrender all the money to them. When the employee refused, the robber assaulted him, punching him and pushing him onto the ground.

This employee was outnumbered and was overwhelmed by the two men assaulting him. Thankfully someone came to his rescue.
The two robbers had no idea that Randy was nearby. The dog heard the assault taking place and ran as fast as he could to help.
There was no hesitation as Randy rushed into the scene and chased the two robbers away before they were able to do any major damage to the worker.
Security cameras filmed the whole incident. There is no question that Randy saved the day.
âWe were surprised to see how he reacted, and of course we are proud of him,â Aguilar recounted. âIf it werenât for Randy, who knows how things would have ended. He shows us how grateful and happy he is with us.â
Randy seems mostly unaffected by the incident. He continues his job as the gas stationâs pet and greets all the customers with great enthusiasm.

Many local residents choose to visit this gas station because Randy makes their day better.
âHe makes it a better experience. I always call him, and he gets in the door of my truck and brings his face to mine,â One resident said. âIt would be wonderful if the culture changed and there were more rescued puppies at other gas stations and other stores. Letâs hope this happens one day.â
We couldnât agree more. Dogs are an excellent way to increase security and they make even better companions.
