We’ve all had an unexpected visitor come to our home before. Most of the time, it’s a friend who was in the neighborhood and decided to drop by, or a family member who wanted to say hello.

Occasionally, however, we find that the visitor is in need of something more than a hello – they need something permanent.

One woman woke up to find a strange visitor waiting on her back porch.

Amy Haden was getting dressed for work one morning when something strange happened. As she was putting on her clothes, her daughter shouted something across the house. Moments later, Amy was with her daughter, trying to understand what was going on.

Strangely, a dog was sitting on their back porch, looking like it was totally at home!

At first, Amy told her daughter that the dogs (the family dogs) were in the backyard, but then her daughter corrected her. “No, this dog isn’t ours!” Sure enough, there was a strange dog sitting on the backyard patio furniture like it had always been there.

Asking each other whose dog it was, both humans were quite confused.

“I don’t know… it’s not the neighbor’s dog. I know they don’t have a dog that looks like that,” her daughter replied.

Even more, the dog looked like it was supposed to be there! Sitting on one of the patio chairs, the dog looked like it was waiting… waiting for them to come out and say hello! Not one to approach dogs randomly, the two girls just assumed that it was someone’s dog from the neighborhood.

When they got home later in the day, however, the dog was still there!

Strangely, the dog didn’t seem like it belonged somewhere (besides the chair it was sitting on, that is). In fact, the next morning it was STILL there! This dog seemed to have made a home on their patio furniture and was quite enjoying it.

Amy asked around, hoping to find answers.

Posting on Facebook, getting the dog scanned for chips, and more, but Amy wasn’t able to find anyone who recognized the pup. For the time being (that’s how it always starts), they decided to name him Walker while they took care of him. The name came from their TikTok channel where they let their followers decide it!

Sadly, Walker didn’t get along with Amy’s other dogs, forcing them to find him a home.

When the search turned up blank, they decided it was time to find Walker something more permanent. As sad as it was, they knew it was best for him. Within a few days, they had found someone that they knew was going to be the perfect owner for Walker!

Walker had gone from a Patio-Pup to a newly-homed part of a family!

In only a few short days, Walker had found a forever home. Maybe he knew that the owners of that patio furniture would have the most gentle hearts in the world and want to find him a new home – you never know! Not all dogs get to be as lucky as Walker, but Amy and her daughter were happy to help.
