A Good Samaritan was driving on her way home in Ontario, Canada when she suddenly spotted a poor pup on the road that looked like it needed help. After all, it was extremely cold, the temperatures were very low and there was snow everywhere.

The woman stepped out of her car only to find a stray dog who was absolutely shivering due to the cold, as she was completely curled up in the snow.

However, the homeless dog wasn’t alone.

The kind woman thought that the four-footer was sitting in a pretty weird and uncomfortable position, but she then quickly learned why. The dog was keeping a couple of small and adorable orphaned kittens warm, protecting them from the freezing weather.

Even though the four-footer could’ve easily found a better place to sleep or to seek shelter, her motherly instincts kicked in as she decided to take care of these kittens instead. She figured that cuddling with them would keep them warm and safe – so she threw herself on top of five kittens and shared her body temperature.

The woman who spotted them immediately stepped in and saved all of the kittens and the kind pup as well.

After they were all safe and sound in the car, the Good Samaritan drove to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue shelter in Ontario.

With the shivering cold no longer being an issue in the car, it was very clear that the pup and these kittens already made quite the connection together and bonded greatly. It’s absolutely heartwarming and incredible to see how this pup basically became inseparable from these five adorable fuzzy friends.

“It’s truly heartwarming!” one of the crew members of the Pet and Wildlife Rescue shelter told The Dodo. “It had been a very cold night so these kittens would have had a very hard time surviving.”

The kittens still need some medical treatment but are doing fine otherwise.

They’re currently still struggling with worm infestations and fleas, but the most important thing is that they’re not safe and warm and will be getting the treatment and food they need. As for the pup who saved them – she regularly visits the shelter to say ‘hello’ to her new feline children.

Not much is known about where the dog or the kittens come from or if they share a history together, it’s quite possible that these four-footers just met each other on that one snowy night.

The shelter still has hope that an owner will show up for the kittens, but they’re keeping them safe for now.

If no one shows up, the kittens will be put up for adoption so they can find their loving forever home.
