Certain people in this world will stop and pick up stray dogs every time they see one. This writer is one of those people. However, when you don’t have the means to take in the stray looking at you with those puppy dog eyes you sort of feel helpless.

What can you do to help?

When Destiny Vasquez saw the two extremely friendly dogs in the fast-food parking lot, she did whatever she could to help. Like most teens, she grabbed her cell phone to get the word out. She filmed the two friendly dogs in an attempt to find them a home.

The video shows the two dogs coming up to the car window not begging for food but seemingly begging for a home. They just wanted a little love.

Isn’t that what everyone wants?

Destiny told The Dodo, “I was in the drive-thru, I saw one of the dogs and said, ‘Oh my gosh! This dog has no home. I was crying and crying. I called my mom, and I said, ‘Mom, I have to get this dog.’ I didn’t know there were two dogs at the time.”

These friendly pups were in dire need of a good home and fast.

Destiny’s quick thinking with the camera proved to be just what the pups needed.

Destiny’s mom, Jessica Marin, sprang into action and quickly came to the restaurant to find out about the dogs. She told The Dodo that the restaurant manager said the dogs had been there for a long time.

Marin sent the videos and some photos to Leslie Ysuhuaylas Hennings, a local who helps raise awareness for dogs and tries to find them help

Anna Teran, a volunteer for the Animal Aid Brigade, stepped up to help the two dogs in need.

“As soon as I saw it [the post], I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t let it go. I just said, ‘How can I get these dogs? If I have to rent a car, I will, to get them,’” Teran told The Dodo.

Teran is now fostering both dogs and says the two have completely bonded. Teran named them Patty and Pepper. Fitting names!

The Animal Aid Brigade was founded by seasoned animal care workers. Their focus is in the Houston, Texas area where local officials estimate over 1 million homeless animals are living on the streets.

The Animal Aid Brigade focuses on rescuing these animals while also offering spay and neuter options to help reduce the growing animal population.

Spaying and neutering not only helps prevent the unwanted animal population from growing but can prevent numerous health risks. According to the ASPCA, spaying and neutering can add years to your pet’s life, prevent certain cancers, and eliminate some behavioral problems.

It’s a win overall!

As for Patty and Pepper, their journey is just beginning. They’ll be placed for adoption soon. Finally able to get the loving home they’ve been seeking after.

It’s amazing what a little positive social media activism can do.
