Video shows man letting stray poodle in his car but people can’t keep eyes off its fur
Life must be very scary for stray dogs. The uncertainty over where their next meal is coming from, dealing with harsh elements and untreated health conditions must be so difficult for them.
Thankfully, there are organizations like Hope for Paws and the Lost Dog Foundation that work to help animals in need.
This is the story of a stray poodle named Dolly.
When rescuers discovered her, her fur was so matted that the rescue team couldn’t even tell her gender. She was clearly frightened but the team did the best they could to comfort her.
Dolly was in poor shape.
“We received a call from a woman in Sylmar, saying that a very matted, stray dog had been scrounging for food in trash cans in a vacant lot for months. She had tried to catch her, but to no avail, so was finally reaching out to rescue,” the Lost Dog Foundation wrote about Dolly’s rescue.
Dolly was barely able to see due to her fur being so thick and heavily matted. Her rescuers noted that the excessive matting was likely painful for her as it was tearing away at her skin.
“She was in such horrific shape it was shocking even to us well seasoned rescuers. Dolly could barely see, and her matted fur was so heavy and thick it was tearing from her skin.”

Dolly was likely in extreme discomfort due to her matting.
A trip to the groomers would make everything better, however. Her rescuers noted that the groomers shaved off 10 pounds of fur. Dolly only weights 15 pounds herself.
“What pain she must have endured. We rushed her immediately to the groomers where they shaved her, and removed 10 pounds of matting from this 15 pound dog!”
How relieving that must have felt for Dolly. At this point, she likely realized the humans she had been scared of at first were there to help. Now she was comfortable and able to see.

It took a few hours to clean Dolly up.
When it was all over she must have felt so much more comfortable. She was taken to a foster home where her personality began to change.
Dolly was happy, playful, and excited. All of this is thanks to those kind-hearted folks who rescued her.
“Once in a foster home, Dolly began to thrive. With lots of TLC and good nutrition she was ready for a home within a month.”

Dolly will never have to worry about being neglected again.
The Lost Dog Foundation was able to find her a forever home of caring people who will groom her, play with her, and keep her happy.
She has been renamed Paris and has a poodle sister named Nicky to play with. Everything has worked out well for Dolly thanks to Hope for Paws and the Lost Dog Foundation.
“In just a month of good food and TLC she blossomed and was adopted, along with another of our rescue poodles by a wonderful woman whose last name is Hilton. The dogs are pampered and happy, and yes, she named them Nicky and Paris!”
