The couple was in a rush, but they decided to stop and help the poor puppy. Thanks to them, the dog’s life was about to get so much better.

An animal-loving couple was in Sri Lanka for an elephant research trip when they noticed something following them.

As they passed through a market, a tiny puppy had made eye contact with them. The puppy could sense that they were caring people. So she started following.

The couple was in a rush, so they tried to ignore the dog. But some people in the couple’s research team stopped to pet her.

After a few minutes, they lifted the puppy up and placed her back in the market, where they had first encountered her.

But the puppy followed them again, wagging her tail. Clearly, she was pleading with the couple for rescue.

The couple initially tried to find someone in the crowd to take her in. But nobody wanted her.

In the end, the couple asked their driver if he would take the puppy in temporarily while they tried to find her a forever home.

The driver looked at the puppy and agreed that he could house her in a few days.

So that evening, the couple snuck the puppy into their hotel room. They bathed her and made a bed for her out of a blanket and some of their luggage.

She ate ravenously.

The puppy slept soundly. She had never been in a warm, quiet place before. The couple decided to call the puppy Lek Lek.

In just a few days, the couple had contacted a friend in Sri Lanka who agreed to take the puppy in. She would live with him and his other dog.

So the couple dropped Lek Lek off and got along with their research trip, happy to know that they had saved an innocent life.

As the months passed, Lek Lek became comfortable in her new home. She and her new owner became incredibly close. His home had plenty of space for her to roam. She even got along well with the other dog.

Three years later, the couple returned to Sri Lanka on another trip. But before they got to their research, they decided to pay Lek Lek a visit.

They arrived at her home and got out of the car. The lady of the couple called out, “Lek Lek,” and the dog started running over to her.

Lek Lek started kissing the woman. She could remember her from those difficult days all those years ago. Her appreciation was obvious.

For the rest of that day, the couple played with Lek Lek. Their bond was just as strong as it had been when Lek Lek was a puppy.

A video of this story then appeared on YouTube, where it made a huge impact.

To date, it has gained over 550,000 views. It also has more than 7,400 likes and 450 comments. People have been saying things like this:
