Lady takes in street dog that looks like a ‘hyena’ and it grows out the ‘silkiest’ coat

Everybody deserves a second chance.

This story will remind us that even animals deserve to be treated fairly and given all the chances they need.

Most people, when they see stray animals, would often yell at them, run away from them, and others, even throw rocks at these poor animals.

Animals never want to be stray.

People seeing them dirty, suffering from skin diseases, and some even having open wounds, is often enough for them to shun these poor animals.

Just like this puppy, who, at first glance, looked like a wild animal.

The hyena-looking dog would scare anyone at first glance.

You would think a hyena got out of captivity and is roaming the streets.

Upon closer look, the eyes of this poor dog will tell you otherwise.

It started on an Indonesian highway

Last year, Ashley and Jancis noticed a hyena-looking dog on a highway in Bali, Indonesia.

As they looked closer, they noticed that the poor dog was so scared of the traffic.

Unlike many passersby, they stopped and lured the tiny dog to the side of the street.

Once there, they got to inspect.

It broke their hearts to see how sad the dog’s eyes were.

The poor dog was in pain, hungry, tired, sick, and unhappy.

It had a severe case of mange that affected its whole body.

This is why its fur had fallen out, thus causing the poor dog to look like a hyena.

On the road to recovery

Ashley and Jancis knew they had to do something. So the duo drove to Mission Paws’ible to get the help that they need.

Mission Paws’ible is an organization that strives to support, educate, aid, and inspire people, rescuers, and even other non-profit organizations to continue helping stray animals.

Not just that, they also help sick and injured animals, much like the case of this puppy.

The perfect name

After rescuing the dog, they named her Hilary Swank-y, a name that suits this little dog’s personality.

It was when Ashley and Jancis surrendered the puppy to the center that she seemed to understand what was going on.

She started showing everyone her swag and spunk. Thus, the name was chosen.

The people in the rehabilitation center noticed Hilary didn’t know how to play.

It seemed like the dog grew up trying to survive, never knowing how fun it was to play.

Soon, Hilary started thriving.

As they nursed her back to health, Hilary started barking and she loved the sound of it.

She loves barking.

Days passed, and in the nurturing hands of the people in the center, Hilary’s fur slowly grew back.

You would never think that it was the same dog.

Hilary grew silky and healthy fur, so no more hyena look.

This little dog had also learned how to play and be silly as well.

How beautiful Hilary turned out to be!

Soon, they sent her to Canada, where her forever mom was waiting for her.

When they met, they clicked and knew they were meant for each other.

Hilary loved her new fur-mom.

It’s so lovely to see how a stray, weak, and hungry dog gets another chance in life.

Now, she sleeps in a comfy bed, eats good food, and enjoys the love that her family gives her.

We should always do our best to help these stray animals.

They need us.
