Student returns home after quarantine and finds potatoes taking over her kitchen – plus 11 similar potato stories

With everything that’s been going on with the pandemic, a lot of people had to leave their homes to stay with friends or family. And since many of those individuals left in somewhat of a rush, they forgot to take care of certain chores ahead of time. This led to some surprises when they finally returned home.

For example, just imagine what would happen if you left a bag of potatoes in a dark place for a few months. Do you think they’d rot? Or do you think something else entirely would occur? Some people like Donna Porée recently found out they’re likely to sprout…and in the meantime, create a big mess.

Here are 12 of the biggest sprouting potato nightmares you’ve ever seen.

1. Sprouting through the joints

Donna discovered her potato plants were sprouting through the joints in the walls of her kitchen. They almost look like something out of an alien movie. She probably had a huge cleanup job on her hands.
