Students roll up to school sporting American flags on cars after administrator orders to remove them
So, we knew there is a certain dress code at school, as well as certain kinds of behavior that are not allowed in and around schools.
But banning the American flag from the students’ vehicles? This is a first!
Well, not really. Over the last few years, there have been instances in which the American flag has been banned either as is or in the form of clothing.
More specifically, in 2017, a parent posted on Facebook an image of dress code regulations issued by Roseville Community Schools in Michigan before the beginning of the new school year.
According to that list, the US flag was not allowed to appear on students’ clothes.
That post caused a hell of a backlash at the time, with Facebook pages inviting people to send emails of protest to the school district about it. Eventually, the issue was solved when the school district told reporters the whole thing was based on a misunderstanding.
Also, in the same year, Central Minnesota high school students protested when their school banned the flying of the American flag on their vehicles.
In that case, school officials argued that “the flags were offensive and caused concern among other students.”
After students protested against the ban, school administrators and student leaders reached a compromise, concluding that offensive flags or banners would be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
And now this.
A few months ago, Franklin County High School in Virginia decided to ban flying the American flag on vehicles parked at the school parking lot.
More specifically, three students were told by a school administrator that they couldn’t fly the Old Glory on their trucks. Wondering why?
“The mother said her son and two of his friends were told they could no longer fly their American Flag on their trucks because it was potentially ‘offensive’ and ‘disruptive,'” according to BTW21 reporter Luis Romero.
But the young Americans wouldn’t let this go.
They decided to react to this injustice- after all, how could the school fly an American flag and at the same time ban the students from doing so?
So, the very next day, a group of fellow classmates, all in their trucks that were flying the American flag, rallied around the trio that had been in trouble the day before.
It was certainly an emotional moment and an act of unity and solidarity towards the three students that were scolded for something that, after all, was their right to do.
The glorious moment was captured on camera by a mother and was then uploaded on YouTube- while there is a similar video from a different perspective uploaded on Instagram by American columnist, Todd Starnes.

The mother who made the incident public, later told reporters that she received a call from the school principal Jon Crutchfield, later that day.
“He has apologized to the boys and told them that it is not against the rules to fly their flag on their truck. Apparently, it was a big misunderstanding that should have never gotten this far,” the mother said.
Eventually, everything turned out just fine, but it is still admirable that a bunch of school kids showed such solidarity for their peers who were in trouble.
