Woman with no teeth was left unable to eat until she gets jaw-dropping smile makeover

Brittany Negler, 29, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania got so addicted to drugs to the point that her teeth started to rot. This was her way of coping with her brother’s death, which she felt directly responsible for.

Negler says she believed she killed her brother while he was coping with a serious illness and relying on intubation tubes, something she was later told by her parents wasn’t true.

Brittany went to a dark place.

“For the longest time, I thought I killed my brother. He had Ewing sarcoma. One day I woke up; I had a feeling not to go to school. So I went and laid in bed with him, and 15 minutes after I laid in bed with him, I heard him gasp, and he died right there,” she recalled.

Her brother was just 18 when he passed away.

“I didn’t know better, so I thought I killed him. Like, I thought I laid on his breathing tube or something.”

Negler was in so much pain.

She had her teeth removed after a dentist determined they could not be fixed. Brittany was given dentures but they were so big that she couldn’t close her mouth and eat. She lost so much weight as a result.

Drinking bottles of Ensure didn’t work either so she reached out to Dr. Wilstead who gladly gave her a $30,000 smile makeover. When they got in touch, Brittany was on the verge of getting a feeding tube.

Brittany was also a teenager when her brother passed away. It was also around that time that the family separated, which made matters worse for the young girl.

“I went to a dark place, I’m not going to lie,” she explained. “I started hanging out with the bad kids, started doing drugs to numb the feeling. I got really depressed. I was like, I need to take care of myself.”

When she found out that none of it was her fault, she decided to turn her life around.

She visited a dentist in Philadelphia but was told that her teeth were beyond saving. A shocked Dr. Wilstead said,

“They literally pulled all your teeth and did dentures because of some minor [issues].”

Brittany’s file said her teeth were fixable by a root canal but was never told that when she consulted them. All they said was that her teeth had to be pulled out.

Dr. Wilstead said there was nothing in her records that deemed it necessary.

She was so thin that she’d wear a sweatshirt over three shirts with two pairs of pants just to hide her skinny frame. The online bullying didn’t help either. Brittany lost her confidence.

Her makeover was so stunning, Negler burst in to tears when she saw her smile in the mirror. Brittany looked gorgeous!

She gave Dr. Wilstead a big hug before the good dentist and his wife took her to their favorite restaurant to check if Brittany’s dentures felt good while she ate. Must have felt so good!

Brittany now has the brightest smile in the room. She’s paying it forward by starting a non-profit to help people smile again!
