Susan Boyle breathes new life into beloved 'Little Drummer Boy' Christmas carol

Susan Boyle Has Become A Household Name

Susan’s status in the world is far different now than it was a few years ago. Many will remember her first appearance on Britain’s Got Talent Show. She was prematurely judged almost from the first moment she stepped on stage for her audition. This goes all the way back to 2009.

Over the next several years Susan has come out of her shell and has pleased many audiences with her singing talent. Not only did she shock the judges and audience that listened to that performance, but she has also continued to delight many of her fans from that time forward. Even though she did not win that episode it has done her no harm. She has sold millions of records since then and is still going strong.

The New Look

Susan’s confidence in her new role is clearly seen. Her hairdo alone has gone from the frizzy haphazard style to one that is very chic and modern. Her clothing is the latest trend and when she walks out on the stage she does so with her head held high. The saying a “star is born” may have come a little later in life for Susan but it did come.

One of the many appearances that Susan made following her success On Britain’s Got Talent was in 2013 on the Paul O’Grady Show. This is when she performed “The Little Drummer Boy” and needless to say she put her all into it and it was a magnificent performance. This is also a song that appears on her 5th CD “Home For Christmas”

If one watches Susan carefully when she performs now they can almost see a glow to her face. There is no doubt that her music comes from her heart. Some may remember it was Susan’s mother who encouraged her to audition for Britain’s Got Talent. She would be very proud of how far Susan has come. Susan prior to her fame was a regular singer at her church.

Susan’s Backup

For this performance of The Little Drummer Boy she had a backup of four background singers who added just the right touch to the rendition. Then there, of course, there was the rolling beat of the drum to bring home the message of the song.

The Similarities

The story of the little drummer boy almost has some similarities to Susan’s story. The Little Drummer Boy was on his way to see the newborn baby Jesus but had no gifts, except for the beat of his drum which was a simple but poignant sound. Susan didn’t appear to have anything to give to the world but her singing voice. What a grand gift this is to all those who get to hear her.

As the song nears its end the bagpipers come onto the stage to back her up. A perfect touch and a perfect ending. Considering that Susan is Scotch herself.

Today Susan is still performing but seems to be more low key. She is enjoying her new lifestyle and has recently lost fifty pounds so she can manage her diabetes.
