Video shows people not noticing a child is drowning in a busy water park
Swimming is a very important life skill. This is why parents encourage their kids to attend swimming lessons early.
Even though kids know how to swim, it’s not a guarantee that they’ll be able to keep themselves safe in the water.
With how small they are, most kids aren’t strong enough to fight the current. There are kids who tend to panic easily, preventing them from swimming to safety.
One video of a pool full of people went viral on the internet.
It was a wave pool located in North Charleston, South Carolina. Looking at how crowded the place was, it’s safe to assume that everyone was out to enjoy that day.
Among the crowd was a small girl who’s nearly drowning.
Despite the number of people in the pool that day, no one noticed her. They were all having a good time that nobody saw her situation.
Fortunately, the lifeguard that day was watching everyone closely.
Right after seeing the poor girl, he immediately jumped in to save her. He managed to reach the girl without hitting anyone on the way.
The pool was crowded but he managed to jump into the water without causing harm to others. Clearly, the man was a highly skilled lifeguard.
The little girl wasn’t the only one who had problems with the water that day.
There was another kid who had a hard time staying afloat after reaching the deeper part of the pool. It was a good thing that the lifeguard was there. Like the first child, he jumped into the water to save him.
The video is a good reminder for all parents.
Even though your children received swimming lessons, don’t leave them alone in the water. They are not strong as adults and they may have a hard time fighting off a current. Always keep an eye on your children.
Parents need to know basic safety tips to keep kids safe around pools.
Although it’s tempting to scroll through Instagram or chat with your friend, it’s important to make sure that there’s one adult keeping an eye on the kids in the water. Don’t delegate this important task to teens because it’s a huge responsibility.
Although there’s a lifeguard, you should never rely everything on him. Public pools can get really crowded and busy and impossible for one or two people to look after everyone. With so many things to keep an eye on, they can miss things.
Parents also need to be prepared for an emergency.
Make sure that your phones are fully charged. This way, you’ll be able to call for help right away.
It’s also a good idea to know basic first aid. Knowing the right way to perform CPR is helpful during emergencies, too.
Apart from that, you should also teach basic water safety.
Remind your kids to avoid diving in shallow water. If they need to dive, tell them to avoid jumping in headfirst. Avoid drains and skimmers. They should also avoid running by the pool and rough playing with other kids.
These tips may sound like a lot but they are necessary. The last thing you want to happen is for a family event to have a tragic ending just because you ignored these basic safety tips.
