Just like in Hollywood, high school talent shows have become increasingly more competitive. The goal is to come up with a performance that’ll make a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. One group of girls came up with an idea that did more than that…it went viral on the internet.

At first, the crowd giggled as seven girls slowly made their way on stage.

In what looked like ridiculous costumes, no one could figure out what was going on. Each girl had one leg in black and the other in white. They were also wearing cool shades. It made for quite a spectacle.

Then the music started…Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”

At that moment, the girls started to do leg lifts. But when the music changed, so did their movements. As the girls performed, onlookers couldn’t help but laugh while trying to adjust their eyes to what they were seeing.

In perfect synchronization, the girls moved their legs to the beat of the music. Yet somehow, their heads didn’t seem to match the bodies. In looking closer, the secret behind their incredible performance was revealed. Although entertaining, it sure messed with people’s perception.

While performances that include optical illusions aren’t uncommon, this one really sticks in your mind.

Perhaps the best part of the performance was when “Chariots of Fire” began to play. Using just the legs wearing white, it looked as though the girls were all running in slow motion. Talk about talent.

The group consisted of seven girls yet it appeared there were only three and a half bodies moving at any given time.

There’s no question that for those who attended the LDS Ward talent show, they walked away with a smile on their faces. These girls put on a performance that was humorous and creative with a little bit of magic sprinkled in.

These girls nailed it but optical illusions can also keep people safe in the world.

Any optical illusion is exciting to see. The Very Well Mind website answered this question, “So, what exactly is an “optical illusion?” As it explained, “Optical illusions, more appropriately known as visual illusions, involves visual deception. Due to the arrangement of images, effect of colors, impact of light source, or other variable, a wide range of misleading visual effects can be seen.”

Throughout different parts of the country, street and crosswalk illusions have started popping up. But there are also real-life illusions that prove dangerous. “Pilots might encounter visual illusions while in flight, such as a false horizon, or when landing, such as a narrow runway. They are trained to recognize and ignore these illusions so they can safely fly their aircraft.”

This performance may not save lives but it sure made people laugh.

With a variety of songs, including “U Can’t Touch This,” they moved and grooved in an unexpected way. This optical illusion performance became so popular that to date, it’s been seen over seven million times on the internet.
