One of the most interesting things about nature is that every animal is unique.

This means, that some tigers could have bigger claws than others. Or that some octopuses could have shorter tentacles.

Of course, this is something that always surprises people and even scientists. In fact, it prompts the need to investigate and determine the reason behind these characteristics

As you can imagine, this has led to some of the biggest discoveries in history. This is how the scientific community categorizes different animals.

A recent case of an animal with a distinctive characteristic is the one of Longboi.

We’re talking about a beautiful duck that is different than the rest of its kind. So different, in fact, that some people thought he was a different animal entirely.

The incredible thing about this fella is that he measures 28 inches tall. Of course, he’s way bigger than a regular duck.

And surprisingly, most of his height comes from his neck.

The story of this charming duck is quite bizarre.

No one knows where he came from, since he just appeared at the University of York in England.

According to different reports, students and professors felt surprised by its measures. They eventually decided to conduct a little research and found out he’s a hybrid.

Basically, the duck is a combination of the mallard duck breeds and the Indian Runner.

We’re talking about a weird mix considering that they live in two completely different areas.

Additionally, studies concluded that Longboi has a genetic issue.

He still lives at the university campus, where you can see him wandering around.

Since he showed up, students have been filming him and posting the videos on YouTube.

Shortly after that, Longboi started to get plenty of notoriety on social media. In fact, some of his videos became viral, with people talking about his beauty and his size.

Believe it or not, some students decided to make Longboi his own Instagram account.

They named it @longboiyork, and you can find some of his funniest pictures and videos there.

What’s even more incredible is that the duck also has his own merchandise.

This includes bottles, magnets, notebooks, mugs, and even some cool t-shirts. And believe it or not, you can actually see some students wearing his items on campus!

In addition to all of these accomplishments, Longboi was also the subject of an academic paper. The author explained how the duck’s characteristics can be a disadvantage for him.

“If you are part of the University of York and don’t know who the longest of all ducks is, here is a brief introduction. Longboi is a duck residing on Campus West and is a hybrid of a typical mallard duck and an Indian Runner duck. He is beloved by all, from students, and staff to visitors of the University. He is easy to spot due to his distinctive Indian Runner shape and size; long neck, tall posture, and characteristic run,” biologist Natalia Kubala wrote.

Far from only having some fame, the truth is that everyone at the campus loves Longboi.

Because of this, we can say that this beautiful long duck is living the dream!
