Professional tap-dancer and little girl face-off in the street in cutest dance battle
Talented street performers and cute babies. That is a combination that few can refuse. Well, that’s exactly what we have in this video of a toddler trying to dance with a professional tap-dancer – and succeeding!
Emma O’Sullivan is an Irish tap dancer and is known for her street performances and incredible talent!
Besides street performances, she is known as a teacher and traveling champion dancer!
“Emma hails from Connemara, Co. Galway in the West of Ireland. An All-Ireland Champion, she has toured the globe with many of the top names in traditional Irish music. She is an experienced workshop facilitator and has spent over 10 years sharing this beautiful tradition. [EOS]
She has gotten rather famous from these performances as well! Her website states:
Emma is best known for her energetic street performances and viral videos which have been shared by over 20 million people worldwide.” [EOS]
Irish tap dancing is a traditional art form known as Sean nós Dancing.
Originating in Galway, this is the modern style that influenced what we call tapdancing today. This particular form of dancing usually (at least in modernity) includes tap shoes that make noises on hard surfaces. Sean nós Dancing is different that Irish Step Dancing in a few ways. The arms are much freer, and it is much more casual. [Irish Central]
While difficult, this little girl decides she is going to give it a try!
While shooting one of her videos, Emma notices a small girl who is looking interesting in the dance routine. She “taps” over to her cameraman, Sean, and tells him to follow her. She points to the little girl and asks him to film her!
Waving to the little girl, Emma encourages her to dance.
It appeared that all the little girl needed was some encouragement. As soon as Emma waved to her, she attempted copying what Emma was doing! Looking to be around 2-3 years old, she puts on a focused face and gets to work.
Wearing a cute little red and pink outfit, this little girl steals the show!
Carefully watching, the little girl attempts to bob to the music to get a feel for it. She all of a sudden has a breakthrough and starts jumping up and down, similar to what she sees Emma doing!
Getting the hang of things, the girl draws smiles from the crowd.
After a few attempts, the girl starts to kick her feet while she is jumping to the music. She is getting as close as she can to her new friend, Emma, and appears to be very pleased with her work. The crowd that had circled up to watch Emma is now smiling at the little girl who stole the show.
Finishing up the dance, Emma claps for the girl and the girl claps for herself!
After the solid performance by the one-day-dancer, the music stops and the song finishes. Drawing clapping from the crowd, the little girl looks around and joins in, unknowingly cheering herself on.
Sometimes, you have to be your own biggest fan.
We can only imagine that this little girl started taking some dance lessons soon after. Her parents probably noticed her natural talent and signed her up.
