We all had a favorite teacher in high-school. They made learning fun AND understood when you had something come up that didn’t let you finish homework! Those teachers are quite rare, but they turned what could have been a drag (school) into something fun and exciting.

At New Tech Highschool, one teacher will go down in the books as the best the school ever had.

And it all has to do with Bruno Mars! We can’t help but sing along with a Bruno song comes on, even years later. Knowing that pretty much everyone loves Bruno Mars, A. Maceo Smith (Mr. Smith) recorded something special to one of his hit songs.

Sitting at a desk, Mr. Smith is seen on camera having a dreary day.

Then, something loud begins to play… it’s Uptown Funk! If you’ve ever been to a wedding, this song comes on at least once, and everyone dances. Mr. Smith is no different. Getting up, he starts to dance!

Joining a group of students, Mr. Smith starts dancing along to the song with some awesome moves.

With a shimmy and a step, we can see that Mr. Smith obviously has some skills. Moving down the hallways, Mr. Smith is nowhere near done. He is on a mission to dance in every area of the school with every student!

The trio turns into a larger group as they keep dancing.

With snare drums rolling, the larger group starts jumping and swinging to the song! As the next part of the song comes around, Mr. Smith takes off running down the hallway!

With moves that are WAY too smooth for a teacher, Mr. Smith continues to shame many of us with his style.

As he moves through different parts of the school, he has fresh moves for the occasion. Whether it’s climbing stairs, moving down a hallway, or walking in a room, Mr. Smith and his accompanying students move forward with dancing and filming.

The part that everyone loves in the song, the bridge, is on its way and they have something fun planned.

Getting low and waving their hands with a “come here” motion, they dance to the bridge. As the lines repeat “Uptown Funk you up” over and over, Mr. Smith breaks into a final run and heads to the school’s main stairwell.

The entire school joins in on the main stairwell at the end for a classic stair walk.

As the end of the song comes to bear, the crowd grows in number and excitement. Mr. Smith walks down the stairs as everyone danced around and cheered. Soon, there are hundreds of students surrounding him!

In a final moment, the whole school cheers as Mr. Smith gives a final move like the superstar he is!

This is one of those moments that a student never forgets. It’s an awesome way to build camaraderie and remind everyone just how fun it is to dance as a community.
