Former teacher shows off 13 ft tall ceilings in her single level 399 sq ft tiny home
Living simply has its advantages.
From being efficient in space to buying only the stuff that you need, not to mention cleaning a small space saves time.
Today, we share with you how a retired teacher gave up her ranch to live a simple life in her tiny but very beautiful house.
Charlene was teaching for decades.
She had her own 50-acre ranch with her husband. Ever since he passed away several years ago, she alone had maintained the ranch.
Until she retired from her passion for teaching, she decided to move out of the ranch and took a leap into simple living with only 339 square feet of a house.
It boasts a “Galley” kitchen
Charlene started by sharing her Galley Kitchen with storage all over.
She picked this type of kitchen design since she was a sailor together with her husband back in the day.
The kitchen is custom-built.
It’s also very minimalist.
Each of the appliances is efficiently placed to save space. She wanted to have more storage, so more cabinets are added to suit her needs.
“I don’t have any complaints about my kitchen,” Charlene said. “It’s just perfect.”
The bedroom is just as inspiring.
Due to the very high ceiling, the room is very spacious and has a rustic design.
She has two sliding-door closets which she likes since there is more space to put on her clothes and other things. The bedroom is an oasis for her.
The Bathroom is next introduced.
It is compact and very simple. Since she loves storage, she has a cabinet and drawers installed in it as well. These storage spaces keep all her needs organized.
The Living Room is not that big, but it is still spacious with all the furniture efficiently arranged.
The half wall helps separate the living room from other parts of the house.
She had the electric fireplace replaced with more storage since she already has a wood-burning fireplace outside.
The deck is the last area.
It has nice scenery, along with a fireplace and chairs for her outdoor living space. Overall, the entire house emanates a rustic vibe.
Charlene shared the four W’s in switching to a Tiny House. The why, when, where, and what.
Living in a tiny house is not for everyone, so this drives your “why”.
In addition, many of the manufacturers have lead times in building custom tiny houses of at least a year, so you have to plan ahead.
The next question is where to build it. You have to keep in mind that there are many restrictions for tiny homes in some counties and municipalities.
Lastly, what type of model would you like for a tiny house? This comes last since it will be decided once you have the first 3 answered.
She explained that she started looking at tiny houses when her dad encouraged her to retire from teaching.
When her dad passed away, that’s the time she retired and eventually made her tiny home in a community in Austin, Texas.
And it was the best decision she made moving into her simple yet elegant, tiny home.
