Mom sets up camera to catch teddy bear thief red-handed

Dachshunds have an interesting personality. Since they were initially bred for hunting, they tend to show some behaviors related to that.

Arvo is one good example of how Dachshunds behave when it comes to their things.

Arvo is a long-haired Dachshund who can’t sleep without his comfort toy. He’s like a kid when it comes to nap time.

His favorite toy is a teddy bear.

However, it’s not your average teddy bear. The one he likes is several times bigger than him. Because of that, nap time becomes a struggle for him.

Fortunately, his human was able to catch the precious moment on camera.

In the video, a bear can be seen in front of a kennel. Then, it started moving as if it’s being sucked inside.

Then, Arvo came out of the kennel.

His initial attempt to get his toy inside the kennel was a failure. Because of that, he decided to try another way.

The little pooch came after the dog’s neck.

He tried a few more times and pulled even harder. Despite that, the teddy bear remained in position. It didn’t even move that much.

Finally, Arvo figured it out.

He went after the toy’s head. He bit the part and successfully dragged the toy inside the kennel. When he got that part in, he hurriedly went after the legs. Of course, he needed to finish the job. After getting one leg in, getting the other one inside was a breeze.

At first, you wouldn’t think that Arvo would succeed. Getting a big toy inside a kennel that size looked almost impossible.

It was a good thing that Arvo is a dog full of determination. He’s not the kind of dog that will let size get in the way of what he wants.

Arvo’s video went viral.

The footage has over 2 million views. Everyone who saw it found the dog’s behavior quite entertaining. Some of them were even impressed at Arvo’s determination and strength.

One viewer said:

“OMG that’s cute. And good for him…he’s not gonna leave his bestie behind!”

Another one commented:

“That dachshund is the definition of being committed!”

And then there’s this viewer who found the behavior too familiar:

“This is the way they are..NO QUIT in a Dachshund…EVER. Ive had my Dachy for 12 years now and that strong determined spirit is still in him….its something to behold..”

The final part of the video showed Arvo succeeding.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see what happened next. Based on the effort Arvo put into getting his favorite toy inside the kennel, there’s a good chance that he fell asleep right after that. Dragging a toy several times bigger than him wasn’t that easy.

About the Breed

Dachshunds are considered as scent hunt dogs. Before, they were bred to hunt badgers as well as rabbits and foxes. Their short legs make them effective in digging and maneuvering tunnels to catch their targets. They are brave and somewhat stubborn which means that they won’t quit easily.

Today, however, Dachshunds are considered as great family pets. They are intelligent, playful, and funny. They can be mischievous at times, too. They will play with your things and dig through your garden as if they’re still hunting badgers.
