Teen bullied since age 7 storms prom with the most intimidating escorts
16-year-old Chloe Robson was your typical highschooler.
She attended classes in Durham, England. But she also had a mounting problem that many children often face – bullying. Chloe had been dealing with the issue since she was seven years old when her family decided to take it into their own hands in 2018.
With prom approaching, Chloe was fearful of her experience, dreading the possibility of having to deal with snide remarks and comments. However, her uncle, Grant Robson, would not stand for this.
A founder of the “North East Bikers Against Bullies”, he decided to organize an escort for her, a 126 person entourage, to deliver her to prom at Lumley Castle.
Robson admitted to the Daily Mail:
“I was really nervous about going to the prom and the reaction I’d get. It was a big shock when we heard the engines and all the bikers turned up – I wasn’t expecting that many but it made me feel supported and confident”.
She explained how memorable the entrance truly was:
‘They were surrounding the car all the way there and then escorted me to the school then there was applause from teachers and the families of other students. It was an indescribable moment – my friends all ran up and said ‘wow, that was an entrance”.
All throughout school Robson experienced teasing, anything from the way she talked to the way she looked.
The teasing eventually worsened over time, to the point where children physically shoved her and threw things at her, stripping her of self-esteem and confidence.
She spoke to the Daily Mail about her troubling school experience:
“The bullying had a bad effect – it made me feel left out and alone. I had no-one to talk to about it and worried if I said anything it would get around – it will have a long-term effect on me”.
Her troubles alerted the attention of her caring uncle, and he decided to take matters into his own hands when it was time for prom.
His biker group raises awareness about bullying, and he moved to make a loud statement the day he escorted Chloe.
With the help of her uncle, Chloe was able to flourish in newly-found confidence, proving that bullying doesn’t have to define you.
“North East Bikers Against Bullies” pays attention to their community and they ride on to represent many kids facing the same issues. They want to show their support and encouragement while letting people know they don’t have to do it alone.
Grant commented about his personal experience with bullying:
“Many of the members of the group have experienced bullying either at school or at work. I was bullied at school but when I was at school you just got a bit beat up but these days you have social media – the biggest bully in the world is Facebook”.
Chloe, with his help, has risen to the occasion and beyond, leaving her troubled history behind for a lighter heart. She is a beacon for other girls going through the same experience, inspiring them not to give up and prevail.
She is currently studying media and photography and is giving back by helping to spread a positive message and promote her uncle’s bike gang.
