Woman learns teen has been caring for her sick parents – wants the world to know his intentions
As you grow up, your parents do all they can to support you. Those roles eventually change, and one day you’ll find yourself in a position where you’ll be taking care of your parents. But honestly, it’s the least we can do since they did so much for us. It’s the way the world has always been. You take care of your elders.
These days, with how busy everyone is, its not always possible to be by your aging parents’ side. We really need a community to help and be on the look-out for our elders too.
Tiki Joyner Edwards is one of those people who just can’t find the time she wishes she had to care for her parents. Every day they get a little weaker and are beginning to have health problems that require some additional attention.
They thank their lucky stars every day for the assistance provided to the aging parents by a young boy in the neighborhood. 15-year-old Romemylion Mitchell has been an angel sent from heaven to help.
Edwards felt inclined to share the story on her Facebook page. However, she didn’t know it would go viral.
“I just want to take a moment and recognize this sweet fella that lives across the street from my parents. He checks on them every day and has grown to love and care for them deeply,” wrote Edwards.
Romemylion is always around to help the family whenever they need it.
“He rides with Dad to the store, helps him shop and brings the groceries in.. he cuts the grass and whatever they may need. Not many 15 yr olds would take the time to care and be there for elderly neighbors.”
He pops in to see the elderly couple every day. He doesn’t even receive compensation. He does it because he is a good person with a good heart and wants to help.
Over the years, they have all grown close together. The family treats Romemylion like a family member and in return, Romemylion treats them like family.
Unfortunately, Cianne was admitted to the hospital one day. Edwards wanted to let Romemylion know what was happening. As soon as she told him, the boy rushed over to Cianne’s bedside to make sure she was okay.
“When he saw Mom today he busted out crying and just held her tight.. what a blessing and just wanted to pass on something heartwarming instead of the sad news we see and hear every day,” wrote Edwards.
It’s not every day you hear about a teenager doing such selfless acts. This is a reminder that there are great kids with morals out there, that still care for the aging population. People have big hearts but not always the availability in their daily schedules to be as much of a help as they would like.
Sometimes we have to rely on people like Romemylion. Who could be doing anything with their time but choose to make a difference by serving those that served us.
