Before that day, no one realized that Ruben Liversage had such an amazing voice.

The Sound of Silence is one of Simon & Garfunkel’s greatest hits.

There’s just something timeless about Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s lyrics and instrumentation. Could anyone top their original versions? (Yes, there are a couple of different versions to come from the band.)

Some people think that a 16-year-old schoolboy Ruben Liversage has managed to sing it better than anyone else.

It all began when Liversage began practicing for a school concert. No one had heard him sing before, except for his family. They knew that his voice was incredible. But Liversage had always been too shy to sing in front of anyone other than his family members.

But when he saw that the school was having a concert, he knew that he could use it as an opportunity to show off his talent to his fellow classmates.

So Liversage signed up to perform, and the teachers were amazed at his voice. Still, they were concerned about how he would do on stage, so they arranged a few things to accompany his performance.

Eventually, the day of the concert came, and Liversage walked onstage. No one knew quite what to expect from their quiet classmate.

Then the chords to Sound of Silence started playing.

Liversage sang “Hello darkness my old friend.” His singing voice was an incredibly deep baritone. No one could believe what they were hearing.

People started cheering and clapping already. This gave Liversage the confidence to sing with more energy.

Then two dancers came onto the stage. Liversage had thought that they might be needed to get the crowd through the performance. How wrong he was!

The female dancer hopped onto the male dancer’s shoulders as Liversage kept on singing. By now, appropriately for the song, everyone watching was in a hushed silence.

Then a group of backing singers came up to the stage and added a whole extra layer to the song.

The much higher-pitched singing of the backing singers gave the song an otherworldly air.

With Liversage now making the stage his home, he stepped out of the lights, revealing his face to all. No one was in doubt that it was their quiet classmate singing so well now!

Even more backing singers took to the stage, making the sound of the song even more powerful. But there was one clear star of this performance: Ruben Liversage.

By the time the song ended, the entire audience was in awe. They cheered even louder than before.

Since this amazing performance, Liversage has gone from strength to strength. He’s even performed professionally. No one can believe that the once shy Liversage is now a master showman!

Liversage’s mother uploaded the Sound of Silence performance onto YouTube. She and her son were both amazed when it went viral.

To date, it has managed to gain over 1.4 million views. It also has over 8,600 likes and 600 comments. People have been saying things like this:

No one can deny that Liversage made the right decision by coming out of his shell and showing off his skill to all!

Thanks to that brave push, the entire world is now able to appreciate his talents. Who knows how far he’ll go!?
