Mason Lindman and his friends were playing outside their home one afternoon, when, out of nowhere, a dog charged at them.
The kids were frozen with fright. For a moment the dog stopped, snarling at the kids. Then Mason looked into the dogâs eyes and flinched with fear.

The dog leaped onto Mason, bringing him down to the ground.
At first, Masonâs two friends were too scared to move. Then they ran towards Masonâs home, desperate for someone to rescue the child.

Jillian Lindman, Masonâs mother, had already heard the screaming when the kids got inside. She had assumed that the kids were playing. But when she saw the terror in the kidsâ eyes, she knew that this was no game. Her sonâs life was in grave danger.
Jillian ran outside to try and help her son. But when she got out the door, she saw that someone else was already on the scene.

19-year-old Grant Brown had come sprinting down the road, determined to get to the child as soon as possible.
âAs soon as I noticed, I just ran over there without thinking. And I didnât know how, but I knew I had to get the dog off of the boy.â â Grant Brown.

Grantâs instincts had taken over.
The pitbull looked up from Mason and glared at Grant. The animal could tell that Grant was a bigger threat than the boy. So it charged at Grant.

Now that the boy was safe, Grant turned around and ran away, letting the dog chase him.
Mason now ran towards his mother and friends, not taking the opportunity to escape for granted.

Jillian hugged her son, shocked to see him covered in blood but happy that he was away from the dogâs jaws.
Grant kept on sprinting away from the dog. He got to the lawn of his home, when he tripped. Soon the dog was upon him, biting at his flesh.
Grant then tackled the dog, pushing its mouth away. Eventually, the dog realized that he would lose his fight with Grant and ran away, back to his ownerâs home.
Grant stood up. He had a few cuts from the animal, but he would be ok.

Jillian knew that her son needed medical attention. She rushed him to the emergency room. When doctors saw the boy, they acted fast. Mason would have several staples as a result of the emergency procedure. The child would also end up with several bruises on his face but no long term injuries.
The mother soon called Grant a hero. She had witnessed firsthand his bravery. Thanks to his quick actions, Mason had been saved.

âI just wanna give the guy a hug, you know. Thereâs nothing I could do, but just say âthank you.'â â Jillian Lindman.
Luckily, the attack was captured on camera.
Thanks to the footage, the dog was soon surrendered to Montgomery County Animal Control. The owner, another neighbor, was issued with a police citation.
The footage of Grantâs rescue then appeared on YouTube. In no time at all, it had gone viral.
To date, it has gained over 7.1 million views. It also has more than 111,000 likes and 19,000 comments. People have been saying things like this:

Jillian and Mason both feel safe knowing that Grant is there to look out for them.
