Tiffany and Daniel Donaldson took in 14-year-old Alecia after learning about the teen’s foster care experience. Daniel is a youth sports coach in Haleyville, Alabama.

He coached Alecia in 2019 and the two have become friends since. The couple found out about Alecia’s foster care experience, so they decided to make her a part of the family.

Alecia ‘s been with Daniel and Tiffany for over a year. They’ve always told her that the final decision was hers.

And she finally made a decision. Alecia even planned a birthday adoption proposal for Daniel. Alecia told Tiffany about her plans just a few months before her dad’s birthday.

Brody, Samuel, and Deacon, Tiffany and Daniel’s kids, along with Alecia, blindfolded their father before lining up with a bunch of signs to share the exciting news.

“This man here started out as just my coach, but he stepped up when he didn’t have to,” read one sign. “He is now not only my coach. My encourager, my protector, my provider, but now the man I call daddy.

“I have been part of this family for 524 days but today for his birthday, I want to ask him if we can make it official. He has no clue that I’m about to ask him to adopt me!” the signs continued.

The series of signs told him what was happening until Alecia handed her father a note as he took off the blindfold.

Alecia held up a sign that read, “Will you adopt me?”

Daniel, overcome with so much emotion, embraced Alecia.

“I will always remember that day and the hug he gave me,” she said. “When he hugged me I felt so happy and safe.”

The touching moment moved YouTube viewers as well. Comments were all love and support for Alecia and her father.

“Oh God. Im in tears. That’s was so beautiful. All theirs smiles was like they hit a big lottery. Congratulations Coach. Game well played. Now let me get these tears out my eyes.”

Tiffany and Daniel already have three sons. Alecia is a perfect addition to the family, and even other viewers knew it.

“She officially makes that family complete by being the daughter they didn’t have.”

It’s a touching story that’s brought many others hope. Family isn’t just about blood. It’s also about who’s been there for you during life’s toughest moments. It’s all about love.

People have gone on to say that hopefully other children in the foster care system would get to experience the same.
