School proms can be stressful, especially for those who don’t have or don’t want to bring a date with them. One of them was Bryan Steingard of Germantown, Maryland.

Bryan had decided that he didn’t want to bring a date with him to prom night, and he also didn’t want to stay long. So, what would be better than taking his best friend with him?

The family cat named Ruby was Bryan’s best friend and his lucky date for the night. And she lived up to any guy’s expectations for the occasion. She dressed up in a pink dress, with a sparkly collar and shoes, too. She was just adorable!

“My brother took our cat to the prom… My mom (Joanne) decided to buy our cat a dress and a sparkly collar so my brother would have someone to take pictures with,” Sam’s sister Caroline Steingard told Love Meow.

Bryan posed for pictures with her, although he eventually decided that taking her to prom would be too stressful for her so he decided to avoid it.

The funny incident would probably have been forgotten if Bryan’s sister, Caroline Steingard, hadn’t posted a photo of him and Ruby on Imgur.

The post went viral with more than 180K views and about 13K upvotes! Everyone commented on how adorable the pair is and how much Ruby seems to love her owner. The Imgur community also created a series of funny memes that got everyone laughing out loud.

In this one, we’ve got what we could call a “hand swap”, and Ruby looks like a baby being held by a giant cat!

The comments below the picture are priceless.

“I hope that someday someone will look at me the way she looks at him,” someone wrote, while another one added: “I kind of want to date your brother, or the cat, either works,” obviously addressing Caroline.

Bryan and Caroline absolutely love their family cat, while Ruby can’t stop snuggling with them. She also enjoys the special fort that Bryan made for her, even though she has her own $40 heated cat bed.

The Steingard family has had Ruby for more than 10 years. They found her outside a Ruby Tuesdays -hence the name- and they immediately fell in love with her. Ruby was very friendly and playful and they soon couldn’t live without her.

“When I was younger, she would walk with me to school and then when we arrived she would walk herself home and meet me there after school. She’s a great cat.” Caroline said.

Now that both Caroline and Bryan are away in college, they miss Ruby very much and they take their time for cuddles and snuggles with her whenever they get back home for holidays.

Bryan, who is now a professional photographer, has also created an Instagram page for her called Ruby the Pretty Kitty, with about 10K followers!
