Megan Johnson, 17 years old, wanted a prom dress inspired by a Disney princess ball gown.

Finding a ball gown is easy, but finding one that fits her budget was a lot more difficult.

She did not want to burden her parents with having to buy her such an expensive outfit, so she did something that would allow her to save money without compromising how fabulous she would look.

The young woman decided to make her own gown out of material that she recycled.

That material was an old wedding dress that she decided would be a perfect canvas for her project.

She found the wedding dress and thought it matched the ball gown she wished for.

On her TikTok account, the high school student shared her process of transforming the old wedding gown.

She knew that a prom dress needed vibrant color, and for her, going pink was the only way to go.

She took the old wedding gown, dyed it pink, and shared her project thru a 30-second video she uploaded on TikTok.

The way she patiently worked on her “DisneyProm Gown” is fantastic.

It is too simple, but the result is just so incredible.

The old dress was already filled with amazing pearls and embroidered designs, so she decided to keep it that way, except she wanted to make it look rosier.

She shared how she prepared the dye, looking like she was brewing something magical as she did so.

Her intricate process was nice to watch, and when the result of her work was shown, everyone couldn’t believe that they were looking at the very same dress.

A simple change in color did a huge shift in the dress’ charm.

It looked pretty before, but it looked even more regal and elegant in pink!

Megan was right to change its color, and now she found herself an affordable dress that looked expensive.

The young woman posted a separate video where she finally wore her pink dress, and her mom was filming the special moment.
