13-year-old makes ice skating history with her two eye-popping quadruple jumps
Ice skating is an extremely complex sport, that some people practice from a very young age. The ice skater in this video took her talents to extraordinary levels at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Not only did she win, but she also broke a record as the first junior female to land two quadruple’s in the same routine.
Alexandra Trusova is a teenage ice skater from Russia who does competitions all around the world
She was only 13-years-old when Trusova made history. It was during the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the young skater had practiced the routine and now had to leave it all on the ice.
When Trusova starts skating, no one in the crowd has any idea that she’s about to do something that has never been done before.
After landing the first Salchow quadruple, Trusova does something unprecedented. She does a quadruple toe loop breaking a record
The performance is immaculate, young Trusova lands the quadruples and the continues her flawless routine. Trick after trick, she shows everyone why she deserves to win.
For a 13-year-old to do a salchow quadruple and a toe loop quadruple is out of this world, perhaps that’s why it’s never been done before.
By the end of the routine, Trusova had set another unofficial record. Judged rated a technical element of 92.35, which also had never been done
Trusova was thrilled to win the competition, but she was also very happy to set the quadruple records.
“I am very happy to have won, but Iām even happier to have landed the two quads. I prepared for that and I did it. After I landed the quads, I was very happy, but I still had the rest of the program to do. There were still three difficult combinations to come and I had to pull myself together.” Trusova said in an ISU interview.
The ice skate was posted YouTube and hundreds of thousands watched her break the records
People on the internet couldn’t believe how talented she is at such a young age, many keeping left comments to encourage the young record-breaker.
“Wow what a little powerhouse”
“What a fantastic program, it seems she is more in the air than on the ice. A real princess!”
If Trusova is this good at 13-years-old, we can only imagine how good she’ll be in her twenty’s. Will be looking out for her in the Olympics
What a miraculous display of athletic ability, Trusova is in a league of her own and it shows. With talent like this, I expect her career will lead her to the highest levels of competition. I’m sure there are many other records that she’ll be able to break on her journey.
