Being a hero doesn’t mean doing grand things.

Sometimes, when you found yourself at the right place at the right time, it’s all about doing the right thing.

It’s in small actions like helping others cross the road, giving necessities to those who need them, and keeping people from harm’s way.

A teenager in China is being lauded as a hero thanks to his quick thinking and reflexes.

As kids, we always loved the combination of slopes and wheels. There’s just something so thrilling about barreling down an incline and maybe it’s because we can go faster than our feet allow us.

A child was testing out this thrill in one of the inclined streets in Guangxi, China. Security cameras around the area captured how playtime almost became a parent’s nightmare.

The unidentified child was riding his skateboard.

He was sitting on it like a sled and was rolling down from the top of the street. The boy came from a considerable height so the momentum he was building up became more and more dangerous every second.

A teenager noticed this. He also might’ve seen that traffic, such as scooters, are moving to the opposite direction. Skateboards are practically planks with wheels so there’s no real way to stop it if you’re an inexperienced rider.

Luckily, a teenager was halfway up the street.

You can that he already that he was already tracking the kid with his eyes, given his stance and posture. He was ready to intercept the child.

The child was going so fast that the teenager narrowly catches the kid. He grabs him by the collar but the momentum was enough to take the teenager down and drag him a bit.

He successfully stops the kid and assisted the child when he was trying to stand.

It was fortunate that the teenager was already standing there and that he had the presence of mind to know that the kid was in danger.

Just behind him and a few meters down the spot where he caught the boy, you can see a busy road with cars zooming by. If no one cared enough to stop the child, the whole thing would’ve ended up as a nightmare.

Other teenagers, seemingly like classmates or schoolmates, rushed to the child.

Ran Qinrui said to the local news that if he hadn’t pulled the boy, “he would have sustained injuries more serious than mine.

The teenager emerged from the accident with just minor scratches on his arm and knee. The boy then picked up his skateboard and began walking back up to his friend. T

he video also showed that the students seemingly told the kids not to play on the street.

People in the comment section praised the teenager and his efforts.

“The teenager’s situational awareness is spot on. I wouldn’t have realized that the boy was in danger.” Said one person in the comments section

“This could’ve ended significantly worse, his quick action quite literally could’ve saved this kid’s life, I couldn’t be happier with the conclusion!” said another.
