Teen hatch perfect revenge plan after finding out friend is the victim of a homecoming prank
High school promises fun times, good friends, and amazing memories. But in between, there are a few bumps – like stressful classes, peer pressure, and the inevitable mean girls. Tricky as it can be to push past that, it’s good to know that there will always be a strong support system in the form of kind-hearted people.
People like Anahi Alvarez and Naomi Martinez.
They refused to let the mean girls at school get away with being cruel to others.
During homecoming season at Grand Prairie High School, seniors Anahi and Naomi found out that a group of girls came up with a pretty nasty plan.
The mean girls wanted to make Lillian think she was seriously nominated for homecoming court.
Anahi and Naomi knew they had to do something about it.
they quickly came up with a plan: to pass the crown on to Lillian if either of them won the title of homecoming queen.
In an interview with NBCDFW 5, Naomi shared,
“We promised each other and we were like, ‘No matter what, no backing down. If one of us wins, we’re giving Lillian the crown.'”
Thankfully, Anahi and Naomi were able to get the approval and assistance of the principal once they filled him in on their plan.
Come coronation night, Anahi was named homecoming queen. Right after the announcement, Anahi and the principal put the plan into action. The principal added that she would be honoring instead “a very hardworking senior.”
That was the winning moment when Anahi approached Lillian to place the crown on her head.
The mean girls never saw it coming.
It wasn’t difficult for Anahi and Naomi to come up with such a plan and execute it. They’ve always thought Lillian was an amazing girl, a friend who’s nice and incredibly sweet. According to Lillian, these traits stem from valuable lessons instilled by her mother. She recalled,
“My mom tells me, and I remember to tell my friends, ‘Look inside to see what counts. Not the outside. Look inside your heart. If you judge people’s skin, that’s bad. But look inside their heart, to who they are.”
This simple yet impactful gesture triggered quite a response.
The act even landed the three friends on The Ellen Show!
Ellen DeGeneres loved the story so much that she invited them to guest on her show, even presenting them each with $10,000 from Shutterfly.
Not only that, she even named the three friends homecoming queens on her show! Their photo also earned a spot on the famous Ellen wall along with photos of celebrities.
For Naomi and Anahi, it wasn’t a big deal.
To them, it was simply the right thing to do. Naomi added,
“Seeing the look on her face and the way she reacted toward it, it was priceless. I knew it was the right decision.”
Adding to this, Anahi shares that whenever people ask if she won homecoming queen, she chooses to say no and that she just ran in Lillian’s place.
Anahi and Naomi believe the world needs more kind, sweet people like Lillian but the truth is, the world needs people like them too who make life a little easier and happier for everyone. Perhaps what they did for Lillian will inspire others to fight against mean girl culture and just generally extend kindness to those they meet along the way.
