Stray dogs approach teens in abandoned park and lead them to drowning dog who needs help

If you are up on the latest in viral content, then chances are you know what a vlog is. For those of us not in the know, vlogs are akin to blogs of the past, but instead of a written blog, a vlog features short videos posted on YouTube or social media sites. One vlogger from California ended up doing more one day when he headed out to shoot a video for his YouTube channel.

It was just a typical day for Trevor Costelloe and his friend Dave

The day began with vlogger Trevor Costelloe and his friend Dave decided to explore an abandoned water park near San Diego, California where he lives. Costelloe, a teenager, likes to explore and share his adventures on his YouTube channel. That day, Costelloe’s video would take a dramatic turn.

The dog was trying to get their attention

As the two youths explored the park, they thought they were alone. They were surprised to see a white dog near the slides. As they got closer, it seemed like the dog was trying to get their attention. The dog kept looking over at them and as they reached him the two boys could see he was not alone. With him was also a pit bull.

The two dogs then led the teens over to a pool. As they approached the pool, they were shocked to see what was inside. A third dog was struggling in the water of the pool to keep his head above the water. It was apparent that if he didn’t receive help, he would soon drown. As Costelloe described the situation, he recounted his reaction to seeing the dog.

“Oh, there’s a dog in there!” Costelloe said he shouted in surprise.

Running over to the pool, Costelloe sought to help the brown dog exit the water. Grabbing his paws, Costelloe could see the terror in his eyes. Eventually, Costelloe was able to help the dog out of the water.

“I cannot believe that happened,” Costelloe said. “We barely saved that dog. If we didn’t come here to film today and explore this place, that dog honestly would have drowned. He barely had any strength left.”

A heartfelt thank you

With their friend safe, the other two dogs ran over to him, their tails wagging. Eventually, the white and brown dog ran off, but the pit bull stayed behind. It was as if he was thanking them for helping his friend. Soon, he too turned and ran off to find his friends.

Costelloe ended up posting the video to his YouTube channel where watchers lauded Costelloe and Dave, saying they were definitely in the right place at the right time. They also marveled at the actions of the dogs in trying to get help for their drowning friend and commented on the actions of the pit bull which seemed to be thanking the two boys for helping his friend out.
